Fields estate sale... you gotta see this!!

I can just imagine the joy he had putting the collection together. It's a shame they are splitting it up.

I consider collectors to be curators. They acquire and keep safe guns that otherwise might deteriorate or be destroyed. Then, when the collection is broken up, other guys carry on in their own collections. Circle of life and all.

Collectors only posses them for a while then possession passes to the next.

Ain't no one found away to take them with them forever.

    I wonder who he was.
A guy who used to live here, and we haven't heard from him for a while, was into ships.
He was also a known collector of firearms. Even had a real Gatling gun while here.
I hope it's not his estate.

Very true. Better in the hands of collectors, than in a museum.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

I'm very tempted to make that 7 hour drive. I doubt I could afford anything but I would be fun to look.

The amount of time required just to keep everything maintained. I have a hard enough time keeping up w/ a couple safes full. And they aren't out in the open where they collect dust.

This will certainly be a rare auction you don't see too many times. A beautiful collection. My thoughts are how much foreign money will be there and how many items will be leaving our country when done?
