ive read on several sites on the internet that the fast twist .45 cal in line is getting very popular. if this is true and you own one, are you aware that the 1/20 twist ones will shoot a .440, 500 grain paperpatch bullet very very well? also the 1/28 to 1/30 twist ones will shoot a 300grain .440 bullet perfectly also. make your own bullets or buy them from buffalo arms, your gun can become a 45/70 or 45/120 as a muzzleloader in power. i just want every one who has this type of gun to be aware of its potential. the internet said knight was the first to bring out the fast twist .45 and all the rest followed. with out knowing this info im in the process of building a 1/30 twist .45 lightweight easy to carry side lock. i have 3 choises for loads. a .45 sabot for a .357 bullet. a .45 sabot for a .40 cal bullet, and of course a .440 paperpatched bullet. i have swageing dies for the .40 and the .440 and i may have to get me a mould from lee for the .357 just to keep it interesting. think it is going to be fun to shoot.
