Who else collects Possibles Bags?

In my den are about 15 possibles bags; half are leather and the rest are web. I yard sale hunt most Saturdays in summer and found many ladies' leather purses for a dollar or less that are better than the $50+ bags in the LGS. I have a bag for each ML on establishment that makes range days or hunts easier to enjoy. In each bag I have an Altoids tin which has cleaning gear and small tools. Also, I have a few roundballs, patches and coin wrapper powder charges. I never pack a bag on a range or hunt day, all is in readiness.

My friend Frank Costanza had over 90 original bags with the original contents when he died. One notable thing about them, not a single one had a short starter in them.
I have 7-8 here, mostly those I have made for different rifles and smooth bores.

Can't say that I collect them per se but have three or four for different muskets and rifles. Haven't bought any but rather made them myself either from kits or freehand. Like you I tend to make them firearm specific. Powder horns are somewhat similar although I need to catch up on the horns.

I have a couple possible bags. We used to have old style woods walks, for hammer guns or flint-locks. Lots of the older shooters had multiple bags.

Check out yard sales. Many nice leather purses are perfect for possibles bag duty. Many GI web bags are perfect for possible bag duty. I have 10 bags set up; 8 for rifles and two for shotguns. I have a short starter in each bag along with a dozen load charges. I put around my neck a capper or primer horn as needed to fire the arms being carried.

My loyal Blue Heeler hound, Nikki, goes along on my treks afield. She does NOT KNOW she is "Chum." LOL. Good shooting.

Thanks for the advice, but what is the Problem? I did not get to be age 81 because of a bomb.
I do have a few brass pan chargers that do reside in possibles bags, my choice. My pan charger horns of 4F are about 4 ounces. Where does the "bomb" come in? How? Thanks for the advice.

Kind of reminds me of a comment that I received from a gun shop clerk when I bought a couple of pounds of BP years ago. The comment was "Bomb in a can" which I took offense to. I responded to him that the two pounds of black powder was far less explosive than the contents of the gas tank on my vehicle. Pretty much shut him up.

I've got a couple. Mostly web gear of a military origin adapted to what & where I'm hunting. A real treat is one I had made from a wart hog I took in South Africa. Wart hog skin bag and a beaver flap (hair on) taken here in the good 'ol USA. On that one I used the wife's mini-loom to weave the strap. Came out great. Small bag but just fine for a full day.

You should try your hand, as it's very satisfying - AND, there's plenty of YouTube videos showing how to.

FWIW, I cut out a pattern of each different part for whatever (bag, sheath, rifle butt cover, etc) on opened brown paper bags, then transfer the patterns to leather, punch myriad tiny holes for sewing along the edges of the pieces before sewing with either thin leather lacing or heavy twine - then sew up (bags, mostly) inside-out, reversing them after sewing.
