    PLS HELP w/ultrasonic tank solutions

ok I'm ready to unbox the ultrasonic tank cleaner I bought 10 years ago and fill it with some cleaning solution. I need a bit of advice from those of you who know what about this stuff.I have all kinds of stuff I could put in there including simple green concentrated formula, zep citrus degreaser concentrate, pine sol, dawn detergent, white vinegar, distilled water.
there is lots of all kinds of conflicting info on the inter web

from all I read about it I was thinking of trying something like a cup or 2 of simple green to each half gallon of water with a couple squirts of Dawn for good measure.
is this a good idea or do I want to use the simple green or maybe the citrus degreaser undiluted?

once I fill it with a solution mix can I use the same solution for cleaning brass for cleaning carburetors and other stuff?

For brass in my HF ultrasonic I use warm distilled water, some Dawn and a little LemiShine. I would think to clean something greasy you would want a slightly different solution.

For cleaning parts and machinery I use simple green precision clean mixed according to instructions, to light and rust inhibitors wont be strong enough. For brass cases lemishine and dish soap works well but a quick light tumble in rainx maintains it.
Watch aluminum parts in acidic cleaners as it will etch or erode the aluminum.
Some ultra sonics also dont recommend acidic cleaners to protect the tank

I've used Super Clean and a bit of Dawn. Seems to work well for me.

Just watch the simple Green on certain blue parts. I picked up an old Harrington Richardson single shot break action 410, really filthy so I pulled it all apart put it in my little sonic cleaner (the parts that would fit) and ran through a couple cycles. much to my surprise when I pulled the receiver out all the case hard and blue finish was gone it was bright shiny steel lol. I’ve done plenty of gun parts using simple green. Never had anything like that happened before or since. I figured it had to be due to the quality of the finish of the old H&R gun.

I ask a friend what be uses to clean AC condenser coils in his business. He said he used simple green all purpose he gets at Walmart. 50/50 with water and leaves it on for 15 minutes and then flushes it with lots of water. I looked up the SDS sheet and found it has <1% hydrochloric acid. Worked great for cleaning the aluminum fins on the coil. I wouldn't leave it any length of time if I used it for cleaning brass. We use muriatic acid (weak hydrochloric acid) to indicate zinc in alloys.

Far from an expert here, I've used Krud Kutter bought at Lowes/Menards. Seems to cut the grease and powder fouling. I use it straight out of the bottle.

Before doing anything ... 10 years ago , no big rush now ...

Open box ... find the instructions ...

Read and follow the instructions ...

You might as well do it right ... the first time !

My word of advice when it comes to ultrasonic cleaners when it comes to blued parts is test it on something small first. I can't remember for the life of me what solution I used but I put some blued parts in and when they came out blueing was gone.

That sounds like a lot of cleaner. Let the sonicator do the work with a small amount of detergent to suspend the oils/crud.

Depending on the power sonicators can get pretty violent and increase the cleaning power of the solution by orders of magnitude. While it won't pit metal, as mentioned, be careful with blued surfaces.
