    Bolt binding

I have a 30-06 that the bolt tends to bind a little on. Anything I can do to fix this?

Your rear action screw is probably overtightened that can cause your action to go out of square and bind the bolt. If it's a wood stock the screw only needs to be snug.

Also where/when is it binding. On a Remington, the front action screw can be a little long and bind on the bolt lug near complete turn of the bolt

I don’t think this is the problem as it starts when closing the bolt from full open.

    Riding over the extractor, maybe?
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

No, sounds like a bedding/bowed receiver issue. just a thought on checking the rear and front action screw tightness and screw length.

    Thanks everyone.
The rear action screw was a little tighter than snug.

Sounds like it could use an adjustment to the bedding. I understand the rear action screw should be snug, but even torqued to 50 or 55 in-lbs like the front shouldn't cause binding. Sounds like you do not have a stress free bedding job. Not a huge problem in a hunting rifle, casual shooter, but not what I'd want in a varmint/target rig.

Sounds like you have it figured out. Good luck

Same loading ammo into the chamber?

If not loading ammo, the bolt contacts the magazine follower, when moving the bolt forward. This is normal.
