Excellent. Did he run far or drop on the spot?
went a bit farther than i wanted, I hit the deer a bit farther back than i intended on a steep quartering to me shot, clipped one lung, destroyed the liver and exited out through offside ham. Went about 70-80 yards and left a terrible blood trail. Had a narrow area in which to shoot and had i waited any longer he would passed by with out any shoot opportunity so i took it.
Congratulations
Very nice!

Another good example of having enough gun for the not so perfect shots.

.358 Winchester + cast bullets = magic.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
The American 358 is one of a limited run that Grices put out a couple years ago. A good friend of mine along with my father in law both got one as well, all three are tack drivers. Mine will easily keep three of the 230gr ranch dogs inside an inch at a 100yards, quite often with two touching. Only down side is that the factory magazine didn’t feed the blunt nose bullets all that well. I called Ruger on the suggestion of another forum member here and they shipped me out a couple of the 450 bushmaster magazines and they feed the flat nose bullets just fine. They do extend a bit below flush but not enough to bother.
Nice work! Congrats on the beautiful buck.
Yup love mine!! Had it out today!!
Double yes on the 450 mags! Got a couple
Of those myself.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
