Using copper bill it power on cast?

I am getting ready to load some cast 30/30 rounds I don't have any H335 but I do have some IMR 4895 and Benchrest powder would these work on cast boolits?

Yep. Along with quite a few other powders similar in burn speed . look in your loading manual and start with starting loads for jacketed bullets , increase till your happy with the results on target . It's a slow powder but Ive gotten good results with 4350 also .

The 4895 should do fine, may need a bit of filler, someone else will chime in on the Benchmark. If you read the C. E. Harris article "Cast Bullets for Military Rifles" which is a sticky in the Military rifle loads forum below, it gives information on loading slightly larger cartridges (.308 and up) with a list of powders which include 4895. It also talks about the 7.62x39, so, the venerable .30 WCF being between the two in size, you should be able the glean some useful information from that article.

I think it translates into:
using copper bullet powder on cast.

which is pretty much what we do.
the 'squib loads' most books recommend were developed quite some time ago because cast shooters are cheap and getting velocity's high enough to make a hole in paper but low enough to make it easy was the main goal.
a lot of the shooting was at reduced diameter targets across the armory floor.
throwing 7-10grs of a fast powder was enough to get the job done and a whole lot cheaper than dropping 25-30grs of a rifle powder.

4895 is a great reduced load or cast shooter. I use it in 30-06 when I want over 1600 or so.

RogerDat I use that website a lot but they don't do cast bollits.I think I going to just us lower power levels for jacketed boolits, I'm using gas checks as well.

Meant no offense tcrocker. I just plain won't use the "stupid phone" for my "hobby" sites.

I'm a big fan of 4895. Have used an awful lot of it in 30-06 and 30-40 and although it does real fine under M2 ball in 30-06, I do tend to favor it more for boolits that are on the heavier side.

You still haven't mentioned which boolit(s) you're hoping to use in the 30-30.

IMR4895 is just about THE powder for cast in the .30-30, I have found it to do very well with cast in .308 and .300 Savage as well.

4895, 3031 and Varget work fine. I tested all the others and even if cheaper, they shot so poor it is a waste of time and money. I hate to waste a primer if I can't hit.

I'm going to try 30.3 gr of IMR 4895 it the middle of the road load in my book. I loaded up 20 going to shoot 3 and check for leading and repeat checking every 3rounds. 50 to 75 yards should be good for hunting where I hunt. If I can keep them the size of my fist I'll be happy.

I am quite fond of imr4198, I use it for 7.62x54R and 45-70 (cast) and wouldn't hesitate to use it in 30-30, in fact lymans book lists loads for it in 30-30 and numerous other rifle cartridges. Travis
