Load data on index cards. One by caliber and one by powder. For example .223 has a card with loads using Varget and BL-C(2) and the Varget card has that same Varget load, the BL-C(2) card has that load. Not sure why but I started that way so I...

Same here. I also use a paint stir stick to scrape the top layer of dross to the side and crush the skimmed dross against the pot side. Most of the dross tends to go back into the melt. The occasional bit of wax helps too. Salvation Army...

Bump for the mid-week. Most of what I had found offered here was $10 per pound delivered. I'm at $8.50 for 10# lots. $9.40 for 5# but that is because shipping is the same on 5# with less pewter pounds to divide the shipping by. I did do a...

I'm with lightman. Finding mono, foundry, or lino at near scrap prices is getting to be pretty rare. Another way to look at this alloy is that 1# of it will take around 4# of plain soft & common lead flashing or pipe and turn it into very good...

This is the contents of the offer. I did not note that the free Hazmat applied to the whole order so if one was wanting to stock up on smokeless or primers in the same order it would all be free hazmat. This sort of makes me think that the...

My new weatherman hero is Al Roker. "It could get to a category 4 by when it reaches landfall, or could get weaker. We just don't know." Honest that eh? I guess if you send a whole crew to the state and it turns out they were just covering a...

I'm just starting to try BP instead of the substitutes. Already have some substitute on hand, bought some GOEX with a smokeless order awhile ago to give it a try. I need to get a better feel for how much I'll use before I stock up. A .58 zouave...

I think PID would be sweet but anything that provides a repeatable setting works. Even if the thermometer is "wrong" numerically if it allows one to repeat the same temperature that it shows when it casts well....

Spend $149 on Goex Black Powder and get FREE Hazmat Figured it might be of interest to folks. Takes a bit to hit $149. About 9 lbs. but if you have a friend, a cannon, or a friend with a cannon.... 9 pound purchase isn't that hard to come...

WW's as a source in the scrap stream will vanish for sure. However lead itself won't become unavailable. Lot of weights and shielding and lining and pipes are lead, they will continue to show up as scrap. Then too there are places such as...

I do the acid test, also the melt test. Melt know lead to just liquid and then dip the "unknown" in it. Doesn't take much Zn to keep it from melting. I also do same with some suspected pewter. If the item has the right thumbnail hardness, is...

With what the scap yard pays for them... not like you would be losing anything. I took in about 35# and got a little over $2 for it. If I hadn't been going by there on other errands it wouldn't have covered the gas to drive there and back. So...

Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this way of getting casting material somehow.
