Ruger is making old large frame Vaqueros again

I don't know if you all know this already but Ruger is making a run of the old, large-frame Vaquero's again. They are starting out with a gloss-stainless 44 mag birdshead grip gun and supposedly making different configurations later. I've got one of the birdsheads on order and they are a little peculiar. They are marked "New Vaquero" even though they are the old, larger frame. They also have the pawl set so that the cylinder holes line up with the loading gate when it clicks into position. On the old Vaquero's the holes would be half way off when the cylinder clicked into position. The new gun also has the warning label on the bottom of the barrel, along with a serrated front sight.

I seen one at Buds a few minutes ago, for about 20 seconds, then it said "sold".

Seems like a bad idea to mark two different strength guns the same..

They're not marked the same. Serial prefixes indicate it's the large frame. I get your point, but they are different. I think with this one being made in 44, it probably wasn't a concern, but may be if they start producing a large frame in 45, which I don't think is going to happen, despite promises or rumors.

I'd really like one in 45LC with the larger frame!

Thanks for the heads up! I have 2 early 45's, but will be anxious for a new run.

My allowance is in hock BUT I 'm wanting one (or more) of these while they're available. I have a blue VAQUEROS cut to 3.5 inches and really like it.

Marking them New Vaquero wouldn't be a good idea. I have a New Vaquero, (small cylinder/frame) in .45 Colt, and I doubt Ruger only loads would do more than wear it out quicker, but many loaders push the heavy frame guns past the "Ruger" only level. In one of the smaller cylinder guns, some of these loads would be interesting.

I need the birds head in 45 Colt in the old style. I bought a newer one in 45ACP so I didn't mix up my stouter loads.

Yep got to add this to my list too. I can live with a 357mag but I'd really like it in 357 Maximum.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.
