I used to always have loose .22lr in my pockets.
Now since Ruger came out with their 25 round BX mags I just grab one or 2 of those.
I also found a small plastic plate that lets you mount 2 10 shot mags back to back. That is the ultimate in handy.
It was just a friction fit, ended up padding vise jaws to get thems squeezed all the way in, but it is very convenient, and inexpensive.
I just use a plastic cci mini mag box
I use ziplock snack size bags. They are about 1/3 the size of a sandwich bag. As a kid I could reach into any jacket pocket and find .22 lr. anytime! haha or the floorboard of my truck or the trunk of the car or in both top drawers of my dresser!

For the past 30 years or so most of my hunting and fishing trips have included a S&W Model 34 .22LR revolver, handy for any edible critters that come along. I have also taken a 2 lb. trout with it once, and several rattlesnakes. Box of .22LR goes in another vest pocket, but I seldom shoot more than a few rounds in the field.

MTM flat wallet shaped cases for me 30 rounds in each one all snapped in the same direction. Makes loading much faster and if your reloading in the field you need speed and easy carry.
Sierra bullet boxes hold 80 and don't open till you open them.
I just put a box or part of box in pocket when out walking and plinking or hunting. The Old fieldmaster holds a lot and usually don't have to load much unless there are lots of squirrels, bunnies and birds and I'm having a bad day. LOL, 10

It has been a few years but I usually just dumped a few rounds in my right front pants pocket. If it was winter, the right hand coat pocket. When I was a kid, I mostly used single shot bolt actions, so the right hand pocket made it easier to reach the next round.
With tube or box magazines, the location of spare rounds didn't matter as much; but the round count per squirrel or rabbit seemed to go up.

I tan the gonad sacks from elk and cut a slit for the belt and give them to my friends to carry .22 ammo.
That's a good idea! I may make one to give my daughter's boyfriend![]()
