This is a hypersonic sled traveling 6,599 mph (mach 8.6 = 9,465 feet per second) on the USAF high speed test track at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. Thought you fellas might enjoy this..

    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? It's a test bed for various things.

There's some cool films of them using it with the front end of different jet fighters to develop and test ejection seats.
But as far as I know, they didn't send them much over Mach 1 for those.
Above certain speeds, the human simulated/stressed dummies had their arms rip off when exiting the cockpit.

Great video. I wish UPS could deliver at a fraction of that speed.

That is faster than a private contractor welding truck going to a oil patch job in Alberta.
    Impressive
