    Single Shot Guns?

Hey mods, has any other name been considered besides Single Shot Guns?

No matter how many times i see that, my first thought is of single shotguns.

How about a change to "Single Shot Firearms"?

Actually a more fitting name would be "REAL" guns!

Never seen a rolling block pistol, I take it? Or a bolt action pistol? Poke Ken or Willy, I doubt they would have a huge problem with a change. If you expect them to catch a topic on it, start holding your breath now!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

The title doesn't say 'shotguns', so it isn't specific to them.
But, a hyphen between single and shot would make the existing title more clear.

I know some people insist on shooting those repeating contraptions (maybe someday they will learn better) but it seems to me the title covers pretty much all single shots.

Believe it or not I have heard that some people even shoot calibers other than 45/70, some folks just don't got no respect I guess!

I don't see any reason to change it. We all know what's here. If we did I think "old single shot hammer guns" would best suit me. After all it really a gun if it doesn't have a hammer. These new contraptions haven't really been proven yet. They might stand the test of time, we'll see.

I agree that the current title is the most wide-ranging, and is appropriate.

It's the pluralization through apostrophization of other forum titles, that can irritate me.

    Example:
"Group Buy's" indicates that the single buy 'is' or something belongs to the group buy.
"Group Buys", however, indicates more than one group buy.

Seems to me that the title has worked well, and now some want to fix it. Sure is hard to satisfy some folks.!

I like the titles the way they are. Why reinvent the wheel?

All guns heading mean rifles to me unless it refers to a handgun specifically. I think of shotguns for cleaning out rats in the barn or corn cribs. Besides a forum for Cast Boolits should be all the clarifying needed.

The term "gun" is generally used to refer to smooth-bore arms, including shotguns.

There's a reason we don't call them "shotrifles".

I believe that is a British convention. Over here a rifle is a gun, just like a rooster is a chicken.
