Your favorite Military rifle and why. I'll go first.

My favorite milsurp is a 1944 BSA Mark 4, No.1 Lee Enfield that was given to me by my brother-in-law. This was the first rifle I cast bullets for and has provided me with a whole lot of shooting fun over the years. My next favorite milsurp is the Swedish Model 96. This rifle is amazingly accurate with cast lead bullets. Third on the list would be my International Harvester Garand. I use the famous "Bob S." cast bullet load which is a lot of fun to shoot and just as accurate as standard military M2 ball ammo. I compete in CMP matches with all three of these rifles and they have never let me down on the range. Their only limitation has been the "nut behind the bolt". Lol

Martini's are very addictive you just can't stop at one! I have 4 in 577/450MH and another 4 in 303 British as well as 4x 310 Cadets

This Martini Enfield is most unusual, built as a MH Mk3 1895 then rebarrelled to 303 British in 1896. I wonder who got the take-off barrel? Also quite rare is a genuine front sight cover.

Never seen such a cover !. Neat !. My rifle is australian property marked. Started out life in 1873 as a 577/450 and ended up rebarreled to 303 in 1900 but not marked E on the knox . My carbine marked to the K.R.R. started out in 1885 and wound up in 303 in 1896.

Here is a favorite rifle. This rifle was made in Essen, Germany in 1881. Made by Krupp it is 80mm with gain twist rifling. Has micrometer adjustable sights and is very accurate. I make a 6lb concrete projectile with a PVC shell. 10oz of black canon powder drives it quite well. Can't ever find the woodchuck I shoot at on the farm !

That's a Toss Up ... I have two favorites !

The first rifle I ever bought a 7.5 Swiss , 1911( K11) Schmidt-Ruben
straight pull is insanly accurate and the longer action handles cast boolits well . The action is unique !

Then there is the second rifle I ever bought ... a 30-06 , 1903A3 Springfield .
It has a Two Groove barrel that shoots heavy cast boolits well and the first rifle I successfully reloaded ammo and cast boolits for !

Reloading had to wait awhile on the 7.5 Swiss because the only brass that we could get was Berdan Primed ... and I couldn't reload it ... so I got the 30-06 because I knew I could get Boxer primed brass ... no problem !

My favorite Military rifle has to be the one I am shooting on my 60-acre farm every day. I retired in 1996 and returned to my farm, purchased in 1988, and was thrilled to have all my stuff in one place for once. I have 6 ranges from 100 to 400 yards and do not have to put up with petty gun club rules or brain dead and unsafe fellow shooters. I drive about with loyal hound, Nikki, in my Ranger who is my Range Officer.

I am glad I was able to buy many nice military arms in the 1950s and 1960s when the getting was good. My problem was $1.00 per hour grass mowing did not give me all the money I wanted to buy great stuff. I love them all and cannot pick a favorite.
