Your favorite Military rifle and why. I'll go first.

Favorite?? I shot the M1 Garand in Navy boot camp. I learned to love the M1 years later when I started to shoot HighPower. I have a SA with a sn 5.97M+. It's probably my nicest as issued M1. Made with all the upgrades and after all the "big" wars were over so there was no hurry to get it made and out of the factory.

The M1 I grab the most to go shooting is an H&R. A very nice smooth rifle.

I have a pretty nice collection of surplus, and I shoot cast in all of them and one of my absolute favorites is the 30 carbine, it’s super cheap and fun and has the same POA as surplus ammo, but my #1 favorite gun to shoot cast out of is my Spanish destroyer in 9mm largo

Rem 03A3 and M1 Garand. Age and eyesight have made them difficult to use and my son now has the Garand.

Get closer. I plan on going out shooting cans with gallery loads at 10 ft if I have to.

Look the best military surplus rifles are US.
I own a 1903, 1903a3, 1903mk1, USmof1917, carbine, and Garand.
But I don't load cast for them yet.
Now I do know that shooting a cast bullet in the m95 straight pull is great.
I tried the 130gr Lee 7mm bullet in a couple of my 7x57 masters and that bullets stinks.
So I need a better cast 7mm bullet.
I have recently cast some 160gr 30 caliber bullets so I may try some in one of my 1903s.

ALL my military rifles are my favorites. I use cast boolits in most since cheap military Ball ammo is long gone. I think my most liked rifle is an Eddystone M1917 that cost me $7.50 in 1963. She shoots to point of aim with good handloads, Cast or J ammo and the battle sight. My second best liked is an Indian Jungle Carbine clone in .308. Last, but not least, is a DCM M1 Garand that cost me $118.00 in 1982.

I really enjoy shooting cast in my No4 Mk 1. I can spend an afternoon at the range trying to put a 200 grain boolit through the same hole at 100m. Havent managed to do that yet but have come close once or twice over the last 54 years.

My current favorite is an Alex Henry NSW military rifle made in 1871 in 577/450 ....Gun was made by Westley Richards ,and the usual WR best gun quality is there ...just the sound the lock makes as its cocked is quite different to any other gun ,and trigger pull is excellent ....Of course I couldnt afford any other Westley Richards gun ,they sell for " Best gun" prices .

1903/A3, because it was my father’s the first center fire I ever shot and shot my first deer with it. It’s now passed through me down to my son. There was always ammo available for it and many different size projectiles. I still consider 30.06 one of my favourite cartridges today.

My Springfield 1868 Trapdoor Springfield in 50-70 ! Was given to me when I was a teenager along with an original box of Union Metallic Cartridges. Did not take long to shoot up the original box of ammo. So I thought I would just go to the local Sporting Goods store and buy a new box of ammo. Ha; the store clerk laughted and told me good luck finding a box of 50-70's !!!! That was in 1963. Managed to find a Lyman 450 gr mould. I hand lubricated them and used a small punch to deprime the cases. Black powder was only $1.50 a can then. Primers were $2 Easy reloads! Enjoyed shooting that old rifle and makin my own ammo. Still have the old Springfield but shoot it with smokeless powder and sized and lubricated boolits. Dixie Gun Works brass still is used. Shot a nice buck in West Virginia with the 50-70. Another hunter I ran into wanted to buy my old rifle right there in the woods.

My other favorite is sort of military ....its a Martini Henry I fitted a new 303 barrel to some 60 years ago .....all the parts are military ,just not how it came from the factory......at the time a new heavy Lithgow target quality 303 barrel meant for a SMLE was $6 from the QRA .

2A1 Ishapore Enfield, with older windage adjustable sights to replace the originals. Plenty of brass around and shoots great with round balls on up to 170 grain cast boolits. Ball ammo for this one is still available, but need to watch out for hotter rounds to keep wear and tear down to a minimum.

I recently got a Lithgow 303 that I traded to my brother years ago. I found a set of the old windage adjustable rear sight to put on it. Makes it a lot more fun. I really like Enfields.

I cant figure it out myself but I am 6 rifles deep in 50-70 caliber and cant get enough trigger time with them. Absolute pleasure to cast , load and shoot them.

I have acquired two 303 martini conversions - one rifle and one carbine. I really like shooting them. Such a unique set up !.

Martini's are very addictive you just can't stop at one! I have 4 in 577/450MH and another 4 in 303 British as well as 4x 310 Cadets

This Martini Enfield is most unusual, built as a MH Mk3 1895 then rebarrelled to 303 British in 1896. I wonder who got the take-off barrel? Also quite rare is a genuine front sight cover.

My favorite military rifle is the one I happen to be shooting even if it is not mines. Among those that are my favorite that I own, they would be:
1. T99 Arisaka because I happen to be shooting this now.
2. M96 Swedish Mauser Target rifle.
