22TCM 9R Mold?

I’m loading .22 TCM for my RIA 1911, so my overall lengths are generally longer than standard .22 TCM 9R (1.16"?). The best functional and accuracy results with cast bullets so far have been with the Lee Bator 55 gr RF, seated to a COAL of 1.19". This length still feeds reliably in the 9mm 1911 magazines, though it may be too long for Glock magazines (not tested). With a Hornady gas check applied after powder coating, the bullets weigh 51 grains and are sized to .224. My current load is 8.2 grains of Vihtavuori N110, giving a muzzle velocity of approximately 1620 fps and producing 2–3 inch groups at 30 yards.

I also tested the current Lee 55 gr FN design (shown on the right), but it appears to be on the edge of stability in this setup and would be too long for .22 TCM 9R anyway.

The should work fine. That bullet can still be seated lower if need be.

Excellent, thanks, I have the Bator mold someplace, I'll have to dig it out.

You can shorten the COAL further with the 22 Bator bullet if 1.19" turns out to be too long for the Glock magazine. Just keep in mind that you may run out of usable powder space with N110 in Armscor brass, and this issue can become even more pronounced when using shortened .223 brass. In my testing, gas checks were essential for achieving acceptable accuracy. Enjoy — it’s a fun cartridge to work with!

Wondering if anyone has tried the Mec Gar magazine? Since it’s metal would it give more internal space for a longer bullet nose?

Have you (and has anyone else) tried loading a 55gr Lee cast bullet backwards for the 22tcm9r? Sounds crazy, I know…..
Maybe powder coated or HiTek coated linotype?

I did. Not cast bullet, but 55gr jacketed for ar. It stumbled as expected. Unless it is the feature you desire, it doesn't work.
