Sure it won't solder to the brass?
Stainless, I would think would be the preferred material. Never heard of 3D printing of stainless, though.

Shot size is affected by your alloy. Don’t put the cart before the horse. Try it and fine tune the nozzle size after you get everything else functioning.
Be prepared for an 1/8” stream of hot lead if you try cheap 3D printer nozzles. I had the orifice blow out of an amazon set when I tried it.

And is .02 mm correct? To duck duck go math, that's less than a ten thousand's of an inch.
Tag. Ive wanted to try this but haven't gotten around to it.
.02mm is .00079 .2mm is .0079 Even .2 seems awfully small. I recall people using mig tips at .030 and .035 sizes for shot makers. If smaller is desired the tips could be peened down and reamed / drilled back to size desired.
Hi,
I have ben through this several years ago. To produce bird shot 7,1/2 size the nozzle hole size needs to be metered size #73 (0.6mm or 0.023 inch). Ensure the the dripping hole faces directly down onto the ramp. The dripping distance is also critical from the drip point to the ramp about 7.5mm, ( 0.295" or around 19/64"). Rub chalk from a french chalk stick onto the ramp to prevent lead trailes forming.
ps.. bolts already drilled for dripper sizes are all over ebay.. cheap...
There's also steel and nickel or chromed nozzles that may be a better choice for this
ok thanks guys.
I get QIDI made brass nozzles, not cheapies
yes .2mm port
was fishing for a re-use of nozzles that don't want to flow PLA and making my own shot w them sounded handy
What is the biggest size shot you can make with these ?
I have seen where some guys are using mig welding contact tips for drippers but most I use for welding are too large an opening for that. They are solid copper and could be swaged down in opening size maybe. If you can find the right size wire put it in the opening and use a few light hammer taps to swage it down. I would just order some steel ones from ebay. The aluminum ones are cheaper but might now last long. I use .021" openings for #8 shot. The shot size can vary by the pressure from the ladle amount.
