Manifold pressure, a critical measure of airflow around the wing? Oh, boy! Is almost as bad as the B-29 entering service in 1945...

Got to see FiFi in action a couple years back. She was enroute from MAF to points east. Came over the field (at about 2500ft of the deck) where I was twisting bolts on a tractor. Pard, you don't hear a B-29 coming you feel the beast!

Don't you know that if there isn't enough air flow over the wing the engines will stall?

After my uncle was a bomber crewman in China early in the war. When his combat time was up, he crewed ferrying B-29s to the Pacific Islands. My sister has his flight jacket with the Chinese Nationalist flag on one shoulder and the big blood chit on the back stating to hide him from the Japanese. Too small for me LOL.
The only stories he told me were how to cool beer on a South Pacific beach and that they were sent a snow plow and winter clothing on a tropical island.
They would fly a replacement B-29 down and then wait for a ship to bring them back.

At NAS Dallas in '74, the Texas Air National Guard had several old of the (I guess converted) B-29 air re-fueler models.
It was a sight to see when they'd crank one up and fly it.
The ground was vibrating 1/2 a mile away.

I didn't see it running, but parked at Dallas Love Field one time I saw one of NASA's B-29 variants called the flying guppy.
The bottom part looked like a B-29 air frame, the top looked like a hot air balloon was sitting on it.
