I've found that if you bring the heat up slowly, the lead/Tin stuff will melt sooner. When the useable alloy has melted, its easy to skim off the harder stuff with Zinc in it. I picked up what I think is a Zinc cast rifle boolit at the range---...

Put a good & bad loaded magazine side by side across the top and see if the rounds are 'presented' at the same angle, and the latches jive up. If the bad mag. rounds are more level, and not angled up as much, I'd tweek the lips on one of them...

He amazes me too. I'd figure way out there on a tropical island there wouldn't be much else besides coconut tress and sea shells.

Mine are sort of both. Beautiful, excellent condition, and functional cabinet guns that I'm real careful with when I transport and go shoot them.

Mine is a old, reconditioned, high security vault. It's 6 & 1/2' tall, and 3' to the back. Various things think they go up there to hide- instruction books I never got a chance to read, 'perfect' size empty boxes, parts that don't fit anything,...

I think you will find using 1" wood planks nailed together is all the material you need. The old powder safes we had in all the stores I worked in were made of 1" thick wooden boards. You might ask them if you make it from wood what dimensions and...

You might try shortening some 50 Alaskan brass.

I forgot about that. But being in a tourist, party destination--- You might want to tell the city boys that if they want to impress the ladies at the beach,,,, they need to put the potato in the FRONT of their bathing suits.

All of it I've ever seen was about as pure Lead as you'll ever see, but it is dirty. In the melt, a lot of dirt will float up. Do a quickie search for 'Lead and oakum sewer pipe joints' images. You'll see pictures of where those came from.

Years ago, I began writing on them with a marks-a-lot or sharpie. I think the sharpie ink soaks into them. It sticks like poop on a baby blanket, and even the real old ones haven't faded much.

Way cool. The best hobbies are also ones that pay for themselves. You can rent out that parrot to your single buddies to carry around at parks and swimming pools. They're about the best 'babe magnet' that there is.:bigsmyl2:

A while in the tumbler, those bullets should clean up OK. In the old days, I'd go to guns shows a hour or two before the event closed. Back then, there were lots of guys that would buy a table or two to sell a few things, and clear out all...

About 25 years ago, I had a new factory Federal .30-06 do that. I returned it to the address on their box. I'm still waiting to hear back.

I used to subscribe to F&S just to read Bill Heavy on the last page, then sort of got away from it. Most of the rest of the magazine is right up there with what I call 'the gun comic books'.

I'd work up the fastest, safest, most accurate load and not over think this. If ya hit a deer with a well placed shot from either of those at handgun speeds, it will die just as fast with a soft boolit, as a hard one. If you're concerned...

I've switched over to 'One Shot', and spray it into the case neck as well as outside. In the past, I've worn down a few expander balls by them being dry and dragging too much as they come out of the case. After sizing, the de-primed cases get...

That's how I do it with the slightly lighter RCBS .45 SWC for a .1911 .45ACP. My alloy is mostly pure Lead with just enough precious wheel weights to get a good flow. Your mileage may vary, but since the mid-80s, I don't know how many thousands...

We don't have many reloaders at our range, much less casters. The range master lets me grab whatever I want as long as no one else is waiting to shoot. We have a row of plates on the pistol range, and there is always a layer of 'splats' right on...
