I think it was George Karlin that did some stand up about how he figured out long term relationships are built on lies. Telling the truth always got him in trouble.

Before and as you skim off the trash,,,,, stir the pot like it owes you money. That'll keep it from stratifying, and mix it all back in. Do that when pouring ingots too. And every few minutes while casting. Also, with that more or less pure...

I can't tell from the pictures without a size comparison if they're .30-06 or 7.62 NATO (.308Win). Top is USGI issue from the Lake City plant, and the numbers are the year of manufacture. It's common to see 'WRA' head stamps mixed in with LC...

Cool. That's how it's done. Get the word out that you're scrounging Lead, and it will come to ya. Garage & estate sales sometimes have some big fishing sinkers if the people have moved in from the coast. I've seen partial rolls of solder for...

Good going! I've found that running the heat up, and letting them 'soak' awhile makes the fluxing easier and take less effort.

Think of it as an investment. The JMs will only go up, especially one in that good of condition.

I'd raise the heat a bit, and not be bashfull about stirring every few minutes. I have good luck with a hot mold, and raise the heat up until I get a bit of frosting, then back it off a little. I heat my Promelt a 1/2 hour or so with the mold...

Everything I've read says to use Iron or steel. Without doing the Farenhite conversion--- Zinc melts at 419C and Alum. at 660C. I'd figure if the Zinc was hot enough over its melting point to flow well, the Alum. mold would be getting rather...

I don't think even JB Weld or duct tape can fix that. If powder coating won't do it, you'll need another mold, or maybe beagle out the one ya have.

I've only gone through a couple hundred cut off discs over the years, but it didn't take long for them to earn my respect. I learned to be careful, not use the 'el cheapos', and run off any onlookers in the shop. I can't remember the name of the...

Winger Ed. replied to a thread AR -15 cast @100yd in Cast Boolits
That's decent. If you're casting for an AR, check into casting with Zinc from modern wheel weights. There is several guys on youtube doing it. As Lead dries up, its the future of casting and is coming along like powder coating did several...

True. I just had to chuckle though. No matter what brand, you'll often see, "My pot drips, I hate it. It's the worst one ever". And the only problem was that the needle & seat clogged with a little speck of dirt and dripped.

Be it seasonal like resort hotels, Air conditioner repairmen, concession stands at the football stadium, etc. Most businesses go through a dry spell one way or another from time to time. Recessions are are a good example for places that aren't...

At this point in history, I'd say it was a fair price for what you got. Especially since they are already cast as boolits and are probably a good, clean alloy for recasting them. If they are hard cast with some Tin & other 'goodies'--- you did...

That's common with most straight wall cases---- ones for handguns also. .38/.357, .45ACP, etc. On the upside, the boolits will never set back in the case under recoil! As said, if it bothers ya, raise the sizing die a little.
