Flying Soup Cans (45 Auto Rim)

I bought an Accurate Mould long ago wanting to make a hammer style full wadcutter for 45 Auto Rim. Today I finally go around to it.



Something this classy can't be covered in polymer. I decided to bust out the old Star Sizer and made quick work of these.


Starting with 4.5gr of Tightgroup. Eventually I'll make a "bear load" with some Power Pistol.


Now tell me these aren't the most beautiful metallic cartridges you've ever seen!

I've never got my 325 Night Guard to run well with the provided moon clips. Kind of sick of messing with it. The AR cartridges should make everything run a lot smoother. I think it's a good balance of weight, power and reliability to make a great woods gun with the right load.

It's a 325NG. 25oz with these grips. The frame is alloy and the cylinder is steel which makes it light but not too light. The fingerless rubber grips are great for recoil. The stock sights were non-adjustable and way off with every load. I switched to an adjustable rear and I filed up a steel front sight. I'll probably switch to a green fiber soon. I love the idea of a night sight but I can't do round and it has to be a low profile.

Extraction has been difficult. Send it back to S&W and they didn't fix it, so I honed the chambers with some diamond paste and an old shell with a bolt through it. Still hard to seat rounds with the junky moon clips. Will report back after sending some soup down range.

I used to shoot NRA 50' indoor and the 200 gr swc boolits I was using weren't cutting nice clean holes. I just turned the boolits around and loaded them base forward. They cut nice clean holes and were as accurate as boolits loaded normally. I was using an old Ballister Molina which would feed anything you could get in the magazine. I don't know how well they shot at longer range as I never tried them.

When I lived in the country I kept a M1917 S&W under the seat. It was loaded with AR rounds with two full moon clips handy and a.box of AR for one shot reload after firing one shot. All rounds were loaded with 255 SWC. I would have loved to have bullets like those.they look cool. I am going to the range tomorrow to shot handguns. Been wandering what to shoot. It will be my M1917 loaded with AR ammo. Love the AR rounds.
