    PC & 10mm Glock

I’m looking to hear from folks who fixed their Glock barrel leading by switching to PC. I recently picked up a G10, sized my virgin Starline brass with a 0.4013” expander, boolits were 0.4015”, alloy was water dropped COWW +2% SN and maybe 0.2% Cu. Lube is FWFL. I shot 5 rounds of the 200 gr RCBS SWC and 5 rounds of the Saeco 200 gr TC boolit. I used the starting charge of 7.2 gr True Blue for both boolits, and Lyman’s Cast Handbook #4 says these should be moving at 1,084 fps from a 5” barrel (I have a 6” barrel). Cleaning the barrel afterwards and this is the worst leading I have ever seen in a barrel, and it does not want to come out. I’m soaking it in Hoppes #9 for the night.

So maybe I buy a Bar-Sto 9x25 Dillon barrel, or maybe I start swaging 9mm brass into 10mm bullets, or maybe I get into PC.

For the folks who have been here and fixed with PC - what thoughts or recommendations do you have? Thanks in advance.

You've tried a bore brush wrapped in copper Choreboy/soaked in Kroil ?

    FWIW: I've probably shot a thousand 200gr 30-1 (BN~6) PC'd (Eastwood) rounds through a
polygon-rifled* HK 45 auto at target speeds; and heavy (240gr) #2 (BN-15) PC'd at max speeds.
Dry patch only/Clean as a whistle.

I shoot a stock G20 with Lee 175 TC powder coated boolits. I air cool only. Lee sizer at .401. SN 1 SB 2.57 PB 96.4 @ 11.2 BHN. No Leading.
I use No. 9 powder at 12.5 - 13.5 and are safe in my firearms. I also shoot these through a carbine up to 1600 fps and no leading.
I came to this site and cast loading due to Poweder Coating. If you dig in to the PC threads here, you’ll find Smoke4320 gives the best info on how to do it; FOLLOW IT. The powder he sells is second to none. I cast, then PC, let cool a bit, then size one time.
    Best of luck.

Back before PC ever became a thing, I put well over 100,000 rounds of cast 10mm through my first G20 that I acquired back in 1992. (That was back when I was shooting IPSC matches every week and a 3-gun match monthly. 150 rounds a week for 13 years adds up.) All of that with with the factory barrel and I never experienced any significant leading. In fact, I can't recall ever getting any, except on 2 occasions. I am always left to wonder what other people are doing wrong to end up with leading. I can only surmise it is from people casting junk and not using the appropriate hardness and lube. I have indeed switched over to coated projectiles, but for purposes of cleanliness and health preservation (less airborne lead to accidentally inhale),...not barrel leading, which has never been an issue.

Make sure that you are not over crimping the boolit. Just get it back to SAAMI spec's aka. .423 and check it in a chamber checker or your stripped barrel to make sure it will chamber. If you put to much crimp on the boolit, it could be swagging the lead down too small. Just a suggestion.
Also, look into Lead Out and Wipe out. Midwayusa.com sells them and it does a number on lead. Just don't let it sit to long.

I have fired thousands of cast and PC bullets out of polygonal rifling without any issues. If you are having issues with cast, PC may help, but it's more likely to mask the issue since the rifling cuts into the lead under the PC.

Has anyone fixed leading of polygonal barrels by switching to PC?
