I have 2 Marlin 336 in 30/30, one Savage 99 in 308, and one Rossi r92 in 357. I suppose the 1962 Marlin would have to do. It can do rabbits to deer depending on the load.

And we've added .45 Colt to the line up now as well.

I would have to pick one it would be in .38/55. If I could pick two, they would be .32/20 and .40/65.

Yeah....us 41 magnum owners are treated like red headed step children....

Post 12 - As a red-headed step child, I take exception to that! () Nah, I came by my reddish hair legitimately. Both parents. Mom had auburn hair, and dad had dark hair, but was 25% minimum Irish.

As for the 41 Mag, can't say, as I've never shot one. It does seem that it would be roughly midway between the speed of the .357 and the heavy thump of the .44. The best of both. I do know that I've never found a single piece of brass for it at the range, so it's a pretty sure bet that everyone shooting it has been a reloader. Either that, or nobody here shoots it. ( again)

While I have both pistol and rifle in 357, the fact is the 30-30 is a better round for everything. Here’s some testing worth a read
    https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/le...vs-357-magnum/

The GP100 is a great hunting sidearm backup for anything with proper shot placement. Likewise with the 30-30.
Between my pre 64 M94 and my 336 I prefer the Winchester.

If the question had been you can only have 1 caliber, it would have been the 357.

I wish someone would come out with a .357 pump. Pump action just makes more sense to me for follow up shots as the charging stroke is not pulling you so off the axis of aim.

There was a pump action 357mag carbine many years ago. Named the Timberwolf, it was made in Israel I believe. Every Blue Moon or so you will see one for sale on Gunbroker or such. Its one of those “damn I wish I bought one “ firearms I regret passing up.

Edit to add: later in the evening, I searched through Gunbroker and was surprised to find 5 of these carbines….one rare one in 44mag! Prices were too much for my blood but I’m sure there are some out there willing to pay for them.

I’ve got lever action rifles in .22 long rifle, 30-30 Winchester, 348 Winchester. So if I were to get anymore I’d get one in 357 magnum and 41magnum.

The caliber would depend on Which lever gun I chose. Tube fed lever gun I'd have to go with a large handgun caliber, 44 Mag ought to do. If the gun is a Savage 99 then it's gotta be 308 Win. based cartridge, probably 243, I've taken all sizes of game in Idaho with a 243.

Assuming there are no shortages on supplies to feed the thing I would likely go with the Win .30-30. The .444 Marlin is a close second choice, it can hit hard...
