I've often wondered how much an original Pro Melt design could be manufactured here in US.

To me the current Pro Melt is a cure for a non-existent problem.
RCBS, had to add the PID unit to the pot, so they could sell it to the next generation.

They recommend not to use it with any less than 1 inch of lead.. Well it leaked worse then the original.. The lady that I am emailing with said she would have the tech test another one.. I said what's the point and I am beyond over it.. Out of no where I got a call from California and it was the tech that tested it. 😆 I informed him once it got close to half full it leaked like a hose and he said O I only ever put a few inches in them when I have to test them. This is a manufacturing problem and I am not the only 1 there's guys that bought them and they don't get hot or them spout won't flow at all cause the heating elements wasn't installed correctly at the factory to the point they are going in and opening a bunch up and testing them..

So at the end of the day.. I believe I got it fixed myself.. If not lesson learned. The stuff that was supposed to be sent wasn't sent and I don't think it will be as she will not respond to any of my emails now... So I spent just under $300 bucks for a paper weight waited over 30 days for nothing .. O I was offered 1 of 3 hats 😆.. In short I really hope we the usa can get back to making stuff here once again and companies stand behind there products.. I had asked for someone in management to call me a bunch of times and that hasn't happened either.. I have heard from others since posting my problems that have been waiting 6 plus months for a returns..

How about trying to return it where you bought it?

I highly recommend the PID from HATCH. I was struggling to get a shot dripper running, and that’s when I gave in and got my first PID. I want one for the lube/sizer heater now.

I know people used to brag about RCBS customer service. But in my many years of casting and reloading I have contacted RCBS twice for replacement parts. Now mind you I had my credit card in hand both times and I stressed to them that I did not want anything for free and I was more than happy to pay for what I wanted.

I was blown off/ignored both times.

In 35+ years I have contacted Lee 3 times with problems. Every time Lee would not accept my money and I got my stuff in less than 2 weeks.

In fact, I had a running conversation with one of the Lee sons over the course of a month to get a quirk resolved. And it was.

RCBS makes most of their stuff right in Orroville Ca. . The electronic stuff is all Chinese but the presses, dies and all other machined parts are made in USA. I suggest you get hold of Joel Hodgdon since the RCBS is his baby. Explain to him what you have been through and I bet you will get a good one after that. If the Hodgdons are nothing else they are ultimate sales people and they know that bad parts equals a bad reputation amoungst a group of people that are very tight knit. Bad reputation means poor sales.

The only real problem I have had with a supplier of my reloading gear was with Lee several years ago. I kept getting a lady on the phone who either did not understand the problem or just plain did not know much about Lee equipment. She basically ended up telling me that I did not know much about reloading. I quit trying after that and never bought Lee again for a few years. The last time was about 4 years ago and I was having problems with a Lee collet die and called them. I had decided to try one of the new collet dies. This time I got a man who knew exactly what the problem was and explained the fix for me. I did exactly what he said the problem was solved. The problem was me and adjusting it wrong and causing the center stem to brad. A little work with a fine file and proper adjusting per his instructions did the trick. my experience anyway, james

I have said this a million and one time. The big companies are not our friends. They were hoping you would give up.

After reading all of this ...

Makes me glad I bought a lowly Lee Magnum Melter a few years ago .

Not a lick of trouble with it ... cost then was $60 ...

Why not? They don't blink at paying that much for a phone or tattoo.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Well here's a some what update.. I messed with the 2nd 1 and its slowed way down and I was over it.. The tech supervisor called me and we talked and he was supposed to get back with me and that was 2 plus weeks ago now.. I emailed the lady and she said she thought everything was done.. I really hope Joel does see this and reaches out.. It's been nothing but a pain in the butt.. If I ran my small business like they have treated me I would be out of business in a week..

I am at three ranges couple times a week, plus run and gun, most don't reload, let alone cast a bullet.

So, I don't see a large market for that kind of equipment. Your mileage may very.

Well I received an email July 15 from Rcbs the lady I had been dealing with and was offered a 30% off code to use on there website.. My question is why hasn't the supervisor Steve called me back like he said he would.? What about the stuff he was checking on that he said he would update me about.. Well it appears to me that they just don't care.. I have spoke with several folks having problems with rcbs and they get the same treatment.. Live and learn ..

You've got a 2yr limited warranty from date of purchase, either keep fighting with them or demand a refund and buy a different brand that will also have been made, or several parts, in China.

There are 4 Lyman Mold Masters on Ebay right now, link to a nice one below. The Saeco 24 is essentially the same pot. They only hold 10lbs, but they work well and will last forever. Get a PID from vendor Hatch, add a k-probe, and it will be better than just about any currently produced pot. I have one set up with a PID and it works great.

    Saeco 24

    Lyman 61

There are more on Ebay but these have the lowest shipping.

Well I was given Joel Hodgdon contact and reached out. To him and I got the same from him as I did from the lady I had been emailing with.. We are sorry for your troubles if the unit you have still leaks when you mess with it again. Reach back out to us and we'll fast track your ticket. Other than that sorry for wasting a month plus of your time and all your troubles.. Now I was sent there new funnel set from there social media person and well I am not impressed. And I guess that covers all my time wasted and lack of customers service.

I guess my expectations where to high. I don't know what I was expecting but something other than sorry.
