No problem. I wanted that clear so someone doesn't do that and dissolve their aluminum suppressor.

Please everyone else with aluminum suppressors do not use the dip.
Sorry for any confusion. Good to know though, I had not heard anyone say that in my research about the dip.
The Ballistol says that it's safe on all materials, however it did nothing for lead buildup. Maybe it would if used in an ultrasonic setup.

Below is from SIlencerShop but it isn't even accurate since you can't use all solvents on aluminum. Ammonia based solvents are a no-no for aluminum. Even their soda blaster option will remove anodizing from aluminum.

I really slathered my suppressor in silicone grease the last time I cleaned it. I have put several hundred rounds thru it since then. When I started to loosen the core carbon started dumping out of the bore. Luckily it came apart easily. All the carbon was floating on the grease. I put in a sink full of hot soapy Dawn and scrubbed it with a nylon bottle brush. Scraped lead off the blast baffle and slathered it with grease again and reassembled. Ready for armadillo hunting tonight.
