Picked up 1lb of Shooter's World Buffalo Rifle (A5744) for $25 at a local shop. Also got 1k of CCI #500's for $80. Nice to be able to find stuff locally and avoid shipping and Haz.

This place had a good number of 1lb bottles of Unique on the shelves for $49 plus some 8lb jugs. Seems like it's out there ... just not online.

So I loaded a few with 4.0 gn and some with 5.0 gn. Monday I find which works. It could even need 6 or 7. Stay tuned for my next review.

Hodg Universal: ok, 4.0gn not good, boolits tumble at 20 yds. So 5.2gns is it. Shoots fine in 9mm, and .38spl. Oh and the comparison to Unique is false, at least to the books I have.
    Much obliged, Max

I got some of that too along with some of what is supposed to similar to 2400....we'll have to see how they work. Interestingly I've still got about 5lbs left of the "Russian Unique", "Salut" I picked up from Jeff Barlett way way back in the day....at least 15 years ago I think. From what I remember it was about $8 /lb and this ML155 from American Reloading was a little over $20/lb....very sad.

    Grabbed a pound a W231
I never use it be hear it’s being phased out. I now have three pounds. Probably pick up a few more when I can just because.

Grabbed an unopened 1lb bottle of IMR 4759 for $30 at a gun show today. Things were very thin ... I think it's these Summer shows. There seems to be more in the Winter ... down here anyway.

Bought a 5lb cannister of Reloder 17 today for $250. I know ... $50/lb. Hard to find though. Worth it. Allows a more dense load than RL-16.

I have so much powder, old and new, that at my age, 82, I will never have to buy powder again.

Today 8/22/24 ... I will always buy Bullseye and Unique if I can find it ...
I load mainly Handgun and lead boolits
But ... in case we can't find any Bullseye or Unique , the ones I'm looking for are :

Winchester - WST & W244 ... maybe for Target Loads in place of Bullseye .
Winchester - Auto Comp & Sport Pistol ... as a fill in for Unique .

I never tried Winchester powders because I always had Bullseye & Unique ...
But I'm hearing they are getting hard to find .
A Feb 2024 article in Shooting Times ... New Powders For 38 Special Wadcutters ...
gave some good range results with these powders in side by side testing with Bullseye as the control powder ... If any of these are on the shelf ... I'm going to buy some .
I have heard of W231 aka HP38 ... and have used it but no other Winchester powders .

Bought a 5 lb jug of Trail Boss (5 lbs of powder in an 8 lb jug), gave $500 for it locally from a friend. Need it to feed my new subsonic "addiction". Never thought I would be happy to pay $100/lb for powder.

Picked 8 pound Jug of BLC2; $304.00. Price hurts; but best I am able to get locally at $38.00 per pound.

Using it predominantly for reloading .223's with my home swaged 60 Grain ,224 bullets. Also use it for reduced loads (1700 to 2000 fps) in bolt actions .308 Winchesters with Cast Boolits weighing 165 to 210 grains.

Bought another 1lb of Buffalo Rifle for $25. At this rate, I'll end up with all of them by the end of September. This shop has 1lb and 8lb cannisters of Bullseye and Unique on the shelves as well. I'm kind of full up on those at the moment.

quite a bargain , the Buffalo Rifle at $25. I haven't seen any in over three years, and just ran out. It is my most used powder in 30-06 and 7.5x55 for shooting in our CBA matches.

5744 is my next choice, and down too only a couple pounds left of it. IF they are ever made again, I'm going too get a several years supply.

Yeah, I've only got a pound of 5744 left and it's probably the most expensive powder ever to be delivered an Accurate container. I think I paid $62/lb for it before it vanished.
Most of their stuff is very reasonable. I just about fell over myself when I saw all of that Buffalo Rifle on the shelf.

A few weeks ago, I had a tree fall onto the shop. I paid to have it cut up and all the wood moved over beside the shop.
The crew wanted another $300.00 to make it disappear.

I had recently seen 8lb. of 748 back in stock for $320.00 plus all the fees.
I thought, 'Gosh,,, that's a lot of money. I might need to get a part time job as a greeter at WalMart to pay for it.

Then I looked at the pile of wood..... If I take it to the local burn pit myself,,, I can get the 748 with no guilt.
So, what seemed like 100 trips with the lawn tractor & trailer,,, I did.
Then to celebrate-- I cranked out 1,000 223s with a smile since I beat the system.

Midsouth Shooters has a choice of either Free Shipping or No Hazmat Fees going on this Labor Day weekend.
    Free Haz-Mat = LD24HE / Free Shipping = LD24SE (>$99 orders, <= 49 lb)

Posted on my gun range S&S was a listing with 2lbs AA2250, 2lbs of Leverevolution, 1lb of Tightgroup and a pound of CFE 223. Got it all for $150.00. I'm a very happy camper.
