I bought 4# of GOEX FFg last week for $40/lb from the only BP retailer in Alaska. Having only one source of supply is a bit scary. We talked a bit about current shortages (Alliant in particular) and prices. It got me to thinking. I did an inventory of my Alliant powder stocks. The only one I may need to replenish in a year or so might be Bullseye. I have a reasonable stock of RL7 and RL22 but I'd get more if it was available. It wasn't. I got 2# of Bullseye for $57/lb. Hopefully that will set me straight for a while.

Well......I didn't buy anything today, But with all the hubbub about Trailboss I decided to look around and dug deep into the Ole' Powder magazine and low and behold I found 2 unopened and 1 half full with my date of 2017 put on the opened one. That I completely forgot about it means I was not impressed at the time. I think I will revisit this powder....especially for rifle mouse loads? PS all had 21-23 bucks price tag

I would be interested in hearing your report on findings. "Similar to Unique" could be construed different ways I guess. If it's actually repackaged Alliant Unique I might have to try and snag some if it comes up available again.

8 Lb Jug of Red Dot, after learning about 'The Load" and discovering .30-06, 7.62x51, .303 Brit, 8mm Mauser and 45-70 can all be loaded with 13 grains of it and a cast bullet and work. Only other two centerfire rifle I have are .223 and 7.62X39 (both bolt actions) that also work with Red Dot, just smaller loads.

Turns out of you don't hunt and don't need full power Red Dot can load just about anything and I only need one kind of powder.

    I couldn't wait any longer....
I got a 8 pound jug of Win 748. It was 'only' $320.oo and a box of Winchester LP primers.
It was only $88.00. Plus every tax and fee you can think of.
That, and a new Lyman book totaled $500.oo I had to take out of the
"Keep Winger Ed. from starving to death this week" fund.

But,,,,,,,,,,, it looks like components are finally coming back in stock.

A bunch of Alliant showed up at Midway late on Friday so I hit them for 2lbs of Blue Dot, 1lb of RL-17, and 2lbs of RL-23. Still waiting for RL-26 to show back up.

Guy walked into range where i was and left two 8# jugs for free. I scored the UNIVERSAL, clays technology after a quick look on Hodgden's webpage. I was wrong to estimate it as clays. I'm told its more like Unique; or as Hodg says UNIVERSAL which is listed.
So I loaded a few with 4.0 gn and some with 5.0 gn. Monday I find which works. It could even need 6 or 7. Stay tuned for my next review.

Wife and I were in Salisbury NC last week, stopped by Blue Collar Reloading. They had a good bit of powder, maybe not everything but you could have found something to use in almost anything. Had primers but no LR, guy said they were hard to find anywhere. I bought a can of BLC2, didn't really need it but it is my favorite 223 powder and I haven't had any in a while. It was $40 OTD.

Just ordered for pick up a pound of lil gun at Cabelas. I will be driving past them 2ce in the next week so I figured I'd burn up my $21 in points. Powder was $43.99. They price matched Scheel's at $39.99 and they also took another 5% off because I found a lower price. So $37 and some change with the price match. It's the only thing I like about the Bass Pro buy out..their price match policy. Think I'm around $19 set and done with tax after using my points.. Think that powder was $34.99 a month or two ago. Powder prices on the rise again! Figured I better grab another jug since I use it in my 22 hornet, 450BM, and now my proven 2.5 oz 10 gauge turkey load. I'll probably use that whole jug on 10 gauge ammo.

An old favorite on the left and a new favorite on the right. The LGS had some estate stuff and they gave me the 4320 for $5.
The new 4227 was $50, though.
