I came across copy of Speer #9 reloading manual and a copy of Lyman 45th edition. I got both for $6 and change. They'll be a great addition to my reference library.

I've always felt sad when that sort of thing ends up at Goodwill, more than likely when someone's estate was finished up.
And the heirs either didn't want it, or didn't even realize what they were putting in the 'donate' bin.
But at the same time,
I like seeing that sort of stuff get back out in circulation, and bought by someone who wants and appreciates them.
In school: We learn lessons, and are given tests.
In life: We are given tests, and learn lessons.

Yesterday at Restore, checking for pewter I found 8 glass bottomed mugs, a Jefferson cup and a goblet. They totaled just short of 7 lbs. Sometimes you find nothing, or an item overpriced-for alloying purposes, but occasionally there is a score to be had.

My best score so far was a glass bottom mug for Ten cents. Second best has been fifty cents each, third per piece was a 12 mugs lot for $8 . They are all engraved with events long past of people now divorced or dead. One had a nice pike ( fish ) for a handle. others are plain. all were cheap.

My local second-hand stores usually don't have much and I've never seen anything shooting related. I've got some second-hand sports equipment for my kids and the occasional clothing item, but not much else. My best find so far was not shooting related - a leg lamp, exactly like the one in the movie A Christmas Story. Our local Goodwill is a mess, pretty dirty and disorganized. A couple of the other stores are much better run.
Bought a nice Kimball baby grand at my local habitat store. Paid 700.00. Love it.
On the other side, I just dropped off a nice pair of boots to the Good Will today.
I found a small hand held steam cleaner bran spanking new in the bag with all attachments for a whopping $3!
Just the ticket for cleaning up the muzzleloader!

I ended up with a big heavy hard cover NRA history of the gun with tons of photos today. It was a $1.35 and like new. Missed a small arms book that someone grabbed at the same time. Got a national geographic hard cover birds of North American bird for 45 cents to. No pewter today. Also got a full strut turkey decoys for $3.95! Never see any load books. Bought a couple Die sets, lee molds, a d do it sinker molds for a few dollars each last year.
Wifey is a reseller so we hit the nearest Goodwill Outlet once a week looking for inventory to sell. I’d love to stumble across reloading manuals one day. I find pewter pretty regularly. For $2.10/lb I feel like I’m getting a fair price on the solid pieces that I’m confident are pewter. I picked up a cute little pewter salt shaker for $0.33 yesterday. Last week I found a brand new KaBar knife and sheath for around $1.
That was a good find. I believe that the Lyman 45th is the best manual Lyman ever made.

Just hit the DAV again this morning. No load books again. I did buy a Rival KC 5820 smoker for $3.75 though. Complete with directions. No more gun books either.
A year ago I found a repainted Vietnam era helmet with a WWII liner for $1.00. Nothing since.
Nice find! That Lyman 45th has been on my list for a while now.

A few years ago, I went to the Hensley & Gibbs estate sale in Murphy Oregon.
All the books in their library were $2 each.
I got a lot of valuable books as a friend and I were the first to go through them.
I bought a copy pf Elmer Keiths " Six Guns by Keith".
When I got it home I found out it was a signed copy from Elmer to H&G.
It says something like " From Elmer Keith to Hensley & Gibbs 197?, Salmon, Idaho.
