Any body ever do any work with 300 WM and 220 gr cast cast.
I’ve got some good results I can share if there’s any interest.

the largest I went was a 168 Rcbs sil and it worked good on paper out to 200 yards. Loaded and shot 3160 rounds before I stopped.

Back in my belted magnum days, I was always curious about that.
But I didn't think it was practical since boolits are limited to speeds within easy reach of a .308 or .30-06.

The two best powders I found were Unique or 5744. I used it for simulated F class at 200 yards out of possible 600 I would end up with 525 to 560.

Back when I first started shooting cast bullets my only 30 caliber rifle was MKV Weatherby in 300 Weatherby Magnum.
I shot 311291s in it with 26 gr 2400 and 1 gr of Dacron.
I didn't have a chronograph in those days so I have no idea how fast they were going.
They shot groups as well as my jacketed loads, 1 1/2 MOA.

I am using cast in a 338 WM and it loves cast. My favorite powders are RE-7 and 5744. It is picky about stability with various shaped cast boolits and your 300 WM might not be different. For instance, using the Lee RNGC 220 gr. boolit, the boolits won't stabilize below 1600 fps. On the other hand, the NOE semi-point gas checked 235 gr boolit with lube grooves similar to Loverin style is stable down to 1450 fps. At 1650 fps, both boolits using iron sights will consistently hit a gallon paint bucket at 400 yards and a 5 gallon paint bucket at 700 yards but only when my old eyes can see that far in the morning.

I’m interested; I have a .300 barrel I plan to exchange for the existing 7 REM mag barrel on a M 700 Classic and would sure like to know how to use boolits with the 10” twist rate.
