Second I'm glad your ok. I source all my glasses to be safety rated for impact. Good reminder that all safety glasses are not the same and to take care when reading the ratings on them. Impact resistance is not the same as other ratings.

Glad you came out of it uninjured. My safety glasses hang at the entrance to my reloading room.

I'm big on safety glasses.
I figure part of getting older is that I can't blink nearly as fast as I used to.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Darn good reason for us not to let ourselves become complacent about the basics of reloading. So glad you weren't injured seriously.

If a 41 won't stop it, I wouldn't bet my life on a 44.
Being stone blind in my left eye I am big on safety glasses. Thank
god you didnt get hurt.................Curdog
Learning from other people's mistakes is the mark of a wise man, or so I've been told. I became a believer in safety glasses a lifetime ago when the initial safety training at Colorado school of trades paraded around a pair that a student had been wearing as he disassembled a particular double barrel shotgun action. Apparently the firing pins on this particular weapon were retained under considerable spring tension, and the student lost control at the worst possible moment both retainers made impact with center lens point in each lens.....if he had not been wearing the eye protection, he likely would have been blind, or at the very least, visually impaired. Made a real impact on me!!! Glad you came out as well as you did!

Glad you are ok. I lost my eyebrows, eyelashes and most of my moustache once, when trying to light a propane hot water heater.
Discharging black powder arms throws a lot of gas and debris that
you can't feel but still hot enough to ignite any powder it touches.
Pretty much an invisible mushroom cloud of material rains down
and will touch off loose powder and pellets that aren't sealed air tight.
I've seen it happen. Not had the misfortune to be the one in the fire ball,
not to say I've not come close, I've held fire after catching sight of my
own can of open powder right under my nose as I sighted up. I was a trigger
pull away from a bad day.
I never bring a can anymore. Just a full CVA brass flask or two.
Glad you're ok and thank you for the reminders to wear safety equipment and
enclose propellant/keep well away from the firing line.
I have my daily wear glasses made a safety glasses. It costs a little more since the plastic has to be thicker. This way I am always wearing safety glasses because I can't see without them.
Some times it's the pot,
Some times it's the pan,
It might even be the skillet,
But, most of the time, it's the cook.

I used to see re-enactors wearing period correct small glasses for shooting. I am glad you had proper gear and that it worked for you.

On TV the A/C ads feature techs without eye protection.
I sent them a polite email got back an obscene reply.
Apparently wearing glasses makes one effeminate.
My student worker closely watched a broken refrigeration hose whipping at 515 pounds,
good old 410a made him believe in safety glasses.
No harm done, but seeing is believing,
you want to keep seeing,
you'd better believe in eye protection.
When I got my cataracts removed, lenses implanted, doctor warned me to wear safety glasses because he said he could not repair a torn lens pocket with a broken lens in it. He had pictures...
You looked pretty bad when you came into the shop yesterday, but obviously not as bad as if those glasses failed. I am very glad you weren’t hurt worse, and impressed that you felt you should share the accident with everyone as a warning.
Heal up, rest up, and take care. You will be out there again soon, doing what you love.

I use a powder horn with my muzzleloaders. I used to use a strap on the plug, but found myself being too complacent and not putting it back in.
I now keep it in my mouth as Im filling the measure so its very obvious to replace it.
Glad your OK , that could have been alot worse for sure .
