I have a great load with 155 gr cast and 17.0 Unique. It's accurate, cheap to shoot and low recoil.
Now I'm looking for a 230 gr (TL309-230-5R). Thinking about starting around 15.0. Thoughts?

Something I've had great luck with is Red Dot.
In .30-06, I run a 170RN and a 190 SP.
Do a search for 'the load'. There's several extensive articles on it.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

When there's no guidance from a loading manual, I extrapolate from a load that is known to work. Like this:
17.0 gr Unique (155gr./230 gr.) = 11.457 gr. Unique.
I recommend that you round down to 11.0/Unique. This extrapolation works better with bullet weights that are closer together. Perhaps 11.0/Unique won't get the 230 gr. projectile out of the barrel, but erring on the side of lower pressures, at least initially, is usually your safest bet. If that occurs, I would expect that it is safe to try 11.5/Unique, and work up from there.

Carpe SCOTCH!
15 grains of unique is in dangerous pressure area. I would start at 11.
