I have seen that kind of problem with the Eley boxes a lot recently. That said, I haven't noticed any extra fliers or anything else I can blame on it.
Eley ammunition continues to shoot the best in my rifles.
There are several other brands that are close and good enough for practice but not competition.
I think those rub marks are simply some of the wax lube from the bullet tip. I don't believe there is enough stress on the bullet from that to cause any issues.
The problem is, if you believe it will cause problems, you WILL get fliers. Anything that causes a loss of confidence in either the rifle or ammunition will produce a lessening of performance.
Not ill. Just very busy lately. My sister broke her ankle a couple of weeks ago and I have been her taxi service. Between that and my mower breaking down, things have taken up a lot of my time.
Yeah taz, I get what your saying about a lack of confidence setting you up for a fail down the road.
I may never be able to identify what all the roots to the problems are...I think I have a habit of paying too much attention to things, over-analyzing & making molehills out or mountains or something on that order?
It's just that several of them had to be pried out of the carrier because they were jammed sideways...I prolly should'a had a good look at them then and tried to turn or wiggle the projectile rather than having second thoughts in hindsight now? When the wind is favorable, I'm guilty of shooting instead of looking at something I may suspect.
I'm glad your just busy & not something else.
Sorry for your Sis, hope she heals up well but it sounds like your going to end up wrenching on that mower...hope you have a shady spot and cool weather for it.
Hope too that your getting your practice in.

Hey OS! Good to see you back. Yes I'm fine thanks. I actually came on a moment ago to check to see if you had been back and here you are!
Time for me to get my 510 out again - I've been neglecting her. I'm at that point now where I need that front sight.

I am so glad to see that you haven't been eaten up by the system down there!
I'm guessing that you Zealanders have it better than the Aussies but I didn't know.
Yup, I'm back playing with the CZ at 100 yards...."OMG, I have so much to learn there! The wind has so much more influence & it's hard to read, can't just assume that the wind meter is the numbers that apply all the way there...also any 'hiccup' the shooter makes is sooooooo magnified!"
Good to see'Ya Bud!

I gave the rifles a good workout today.
When I got to the range, it was thunder, lightning, and pouring rain. I went into town and had some lunch and filled up the truck(gas is MUCH cheaper in Iowa) while I waited for the storm to pass.
About 12:30 the storm stopped and the wind dropped to almost nothing.
I had some really good targets.
I was shooting five shot groups on the factory class target.
I had one string where I only dropped one shot and another string that were all in.
I had some of the best five shot groups I have ever fired.
I also had some poor groups and one string that wasn't very good.
Things were getting very hot and I wanted to get into the air conditioning so I quit.
