Now I lay me down to sleep

i have had one since 1974, serial # boo1920. bought it from a man who said it kicked to much, i think i paid 250.00 for it.
I bought mine in the early eighties, but it’s not unmolested with safeties and warnings like yours. Congratulations! Keep her in good shape .
It’s a beauty and a straight stock. Congratulations !!
Thanks for the compliments guys! It’s only the second non safety Marlin I’ve been able to get my hands on, this one is nice besides where scope blocks were mounted someone scratched it pretty good but I think a Skinner Alaskan rear sight will cover it.
For some of my other Marlins a site called Beartooth Mercantile has the nicest Saddle ring safety eliminator I’ve come across.

Nice. Enjoy.
I too have one of these early '70s guns, bought in the mid 1990s. Can't remember serial # but it does have a "B" prefix. Semi curved butt plate is a killer with heavy loads but using 300 grain lead bullets and light loads it is loads of fun, lobbing them down range. Just have to get good at judging the bullet drop. Also it does have a Williams receiver sight which required a taller front brass bead. Did load some 500gr Hornady soft points from the LGS bargain table; over AA2520 and seated to cycle they were killers on both ends of the rifle. Will never do that again.
Gun appears to be much lighter and slimmer than later 1895s. Just like the look.
Nice find ! The early Marlins are very nice rifles.

Marlins always had half cock safetys. Why would you need more.
i also have a 44 mag sporter only made in 1973 and it looks just like the 95 in 45-70, but built on the 94 action.
Beautiful rifle, I purchased one of those back in the mid 70's, my first 45/70 rifle. I foolishly traded it away (don't remember for what or why) and now wish I had it back. IMHO the nicest configuration of the 1895 made. Well balanced and a great hunting rifle. I wish Ruger would have brought this back instead of the butt ugly tacticool version they have now. Ruger are you listening? Did I mention I a jealous.
Very cool gun!
Had one just like that. Bought it right around 1975 +-. It was stolen along with a bunch of other stuff in a home burglary. My favorite 1895 configuration. Loved that gun. Used to get some awed looks when testing the Keith 405/3031 load. It was not real fun from the bench.
Ahhhh, when I saw the title '1895', I instantly think Winchester. Nice rifle but I do have thing for the Winny's
