There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.
My brother uses polymer self defense rounds that look that. If i am not mistaken the tipped hunting rounds work on the same princpe also. Just with a sharp tip. The idea is is wedges into the lead helping expansion.

I have a MiHec 45 acp mould with a ginormous HP (pretty much a copy of the Speer "flying ash tray"), this happens a lot.
Doesn't hurt a thing, actually aided feeding in a friends picky 1911.
I mostly pick them out. Don't want to buy more. lol

Plastic pellets ought to be ok. Not sure if the ATF would consider steel pellets armor piercing.
That right there is why I quit using BB's during PC. It was a great big pain. It seems to work just as well without em for me. Those bullets do look pretty cool though.
