What are your thoughts on this Black Powder?

My BIL gave me full pound of black powder that had been sitting in a friends garage for a long time. I know nothing about BP but I'm assuming it is as hard to get these days as all gun powders. Should I pass this on to another shooter or pour it out in the garden? Are there any indicators that it might be good or bad? TIA for your comments!

BP does not go bad in the same manor as smokeless. That powder is fine.

Exactly what M-Tecs said. Use it in good health. Guns loaded more than a century ago will still fire the charge left in the barrel.

My only two cans of BP are that old or older and it still works great. Make smoke with confidence!

If it looks good, it is.

There was a story years ago of a guy who found an old flint lock pistol that was still loaded from at least 100 years ago.
He removed the ball & powder, cleaned it, reloaded it with the powder & ball he pulled out, and it fired.
