Those were from the 50s I think. We got them in '73 at Parris Island.
Overseas in the '75-76, when a typhoon would roll in and shut down the base, they'd drop off a pallet or two
of them in the barracks. They were 'new' ones and didn't have the little airline pack of cigarettes in them.
I think they were left over from what didn't quite make it all the way to Viet Nam.
There were so many stockpiled that it was wide open for the consumption of them.
You could request all you wanted, no questions asked, and they didn't want any left overs back either.
Guys even sent a few home to give away just for the novelty of them.

A few months ago Costco had a bunch of "Tulip" spam type product in. It is made in Denmark I think for the Spanish market judging from the text on the can. It ended up being super cheap and
I like it a bit better than regular spam. It also has a couple more years on the stated shelf life whatever that is worth.
