I would like to hear about your favorite powder(s) for .220 Swift using 52 to 55 gr jacketed bullets. Plan to get out my late 1970'S Ruger 77 Varmint.

IMR 4064 or H414

H4895 always worked for me.
I have a ~2000 target model, Ruger's target gray with laminated stock. When new, it would routinely shoot under 3/4" groups. I shot the barrel out over the years.
I rebarreled it a couple of years ago, just haven't taken the time to see if it is the equal of the original barrel.
H380 in ball powder or IMR 4064 stick powder.
I always got my best groups with H414 shooting a Ruger model 77VT.
So many guns, so little time

I had a Ruger 77 heavy barrel varmint model, one of the Bi-centennial models, back in the day. IMR-4350 with Sierra 52 gr. HP's accounted for lots of 'chucks!

4064 without a doubt. I had also worked up a load with H414 that shot very well, but on a prairie dog hunt I suddenly started missing shots. I gave the barrel a good cleaning and the accuracy returned. Never had to do that with 4064.

Hodgdon Superformance is amazing in my 22-250 for speed and accuracy. I suspect the Swift might like it, too. W760/ H414 and 4064 were my late brother's favorites for his early m77V Ruger and 112 Savage single shot. He was faithful to the Sierra 52 gr bthp ONLY for bullets- I thought that odd- but he shot a lot of little bitty groups.....

When I had one, H380 was always the best followed by 414.
Never trade luck for skill.
38.5 grs 4064 any 52 match bullet shot under an inch in my old M70. IMR 4064.
