Forced to go back to the old ways.

No money coming in my business close, no check coming in from Uncle Sam. Finances at a all time low the wife and I have vowed to only pay the bills. Of course I would have to run out of PC last week. So I broke out the old lee lube Alox. I am sure it will do the job but man oh man I do not miss the nasty mess. I loaded up 100 bullets for the mailman in 380acp. I know that is what he shoots and I just wanted to say thanks. My mailbox is still getting mail in this weird time.

Soon I will be out of Alox and it will be back to the Lyman 450.

Has anyone else had to change things up a bit for the foreseeable future???

Just wanted to let ya know your not alone if you have.

Thank you geslayton but that’s not why I started this thread. I have enjoyed this hobby throughout many different levels over the years. I never truly liked traditional lubing. To messy and didn’t store well. I guess its a good thing we keep stuff around is what I am kinda getting at.

On another note does anyone else notice non reloader’s do not mind shooting PC bullets. Raw lead on the other hand they talk bad about and choose not to shoot?

I have never had a chance to use smokes powder. I have put it on my to do list for when life returns to some form of normal. He sure does have some nice colors.

I know it isn't what you were looking for, but, the offer stands. I've gotten a lot of help off this site and other reloading sites and just try to help out where I can.

I’ve got more powder than I need and so far my finances are still OK. I’m happy to send you a bottle of Eastwood powder if you need it.

HF red is cheap enough & does work. 1# will do 1000s of bullets. What, $6. I can pick up that much in alum cans at the local parks. Well maybe not right now though.

In a pinch I made lube from candle wax, STP and moly. That was before the internet and I didn't know there's something wrong with that. It worked as well as what I'm buying from Lyman at the present time....

Yes HF Red is cheap. $12 ish dollars in my local harbor freight an hour away. Last time I left the house on the 18 of last month I stopped in and the shelf was empty. It’s ok it’s not the end of the world. I honestly have only ever used hf red.

Elkins45 thanks for the offer but like I said to geslayton I didn’t post this thread with hopes for a handout. Thanks again.

I use about 9-10 cans a year and have learned long ago HF red does not store well. Ask me how I know.

That would explain a lot tome boy. I do not PC in the winter months and the last pound I got was from some time last year.

    Bummer.

    I feel vindicated !!

    For years:
I melted down all the kid's broken crayons, a candle or two, and mixed it with wheel bearing grease,,,
with a little bump of motor oil, until it was 'just right'.

Sure, it stunk, but it worked fine.

I was eventually shamed into buying Lyman's Orange Magic.

Just looked and HF only carries white and black pc. Next time I’m in one I’ll buy some white and mix it with my half mty red and see what flavor bullet I come up with.

And this is another reason I like this forum.

We all know you were just making conversation about lifes ups and downs, but take the powder! As I read your post, I was going to PM you to see if I could send some powder, but many others have offered including Smoke. We all understand and this help offered is as genuine as any I've ever seen. If for no other reason, no one wants anyone to have to shoot a lubed bullet. Your guns would be embarrassed and might not shoot anymore!
