What's your favorite boolit for an ar10 in 308? I'm thinking about trying the 180 grain boolits by penn bullets before I buy a mould to make my own. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

And that feeds nice in your ar? How fast do you shoot it?

NOE 309-150 3R Spitzer with gas check, 2250 FPS from a Sig Saur 716 Patrol, 16”. Same velocity from my Mossberg Scout 16” Scout, slightly higher from my Springfield 22” M1A, need to chronograph that next time out. I have read where others are having great success with heavier boolits, I bought the NOE for 300 BO and started using it in the 308s I picked up.

What lube are you using? Sizing to .309? Any leading of your gas systems?
I stopped using lube when I started powder coating and size to .310. Works great, feeds great. I started using the Lee C312-155 2R with 50/50 Alox/mineral spirates, 2 coats, .310, but when I switched to PC the boolits got fatter and caused feeding problems. Fortunately, I was recently gifted an Argentine Mauser in 7.65x53mm that should work great for the Mauser.
Cast rifle has been a fairly recent endeavor, the last few years or so, vs handgun for 45 years. I’m liking the results of minute of soda can at 100 yards off hand. Powder coating really shrank my groups. No leading in the Sig or the Springfield gas systems.

Fcvan,
Are you shooting reduced loads or just going for it like j-bullets?
These Lee Molds are all good choices. The 2R molds can be had in 6 cavity versions.

I have had 311332 bullets break at the little cleaning groove ahead of the rifling bands.
Bruce B article is good source for powders and loads

M1A loads work in AR10s.
Lee reloading manual 2nd edition also a section on reduced loads with rifle powders.
I recommend keeping speeds under 1900fps with uncoated lead bullets.
Powders in the speed range of 4895, 4064, Varget, BL-C(2), 748 work well with my AR10s.
