Anyone got any light recoiling loads that would work in a 30/06, with J words between 125-150grs. Setting up a rifle, for a small young woman, to hunt with, under 200yds. All help appreciated!

10-12 gr of Unique works for my granddaughter.

I tried 16.5 unique before with a 150gr and it seems to have worked ok from my notes. idk if its a load that was ever published but ive heard others used it before and said it goes about 1850fps.
also found similar here. http://www.reloadammo.com/3006load.htm
idk what jacketed would expand at that speed or tumbling would work if it happens. I hit a fox with a 168mk at that speed and kinda just made an arrow hole through it
Start at the minimum loads of a slower powder in a book, and maybe go up a little.
They're going to be along the lines of a factory load in .30-30, maybe a little less recoil than that.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Look up hodgdons youth 4895 loads for jacketed. Basically 60 percent of max load (around 28 grains if I recall) with a 150 30-30 bullet or a 125 hornady. My wife used the hornady 125 for a couple deer and she likes the load.

You can use Trail Boss. I used it in a 7mm Mag with a 120gr bullet. Was accurate and pleasant
Here's something you can try. Old 300 meter load data I received from the NRA many years ago. 125 grain Sierra spitzer flat base and 38 to 40 grains IMR 4895. Used it in a Smith Corona 1903A3 almost match accuracy. Course the long slide Lyman 48 and the Lyman 17xnb globe sight which replaced the issue front sight helped. Recoil about like a 30-30 and easy on the bbl. Do not know if it will cycle a Garand I only used it in the A3. Think you'll like it. Frank
Upon seeing your request, I opened my RollaA-Dex to see my "target 1903A3" load is allllmost like samari46 provided. I've used 42.0 grains of IMR4895 behind same bullet, also with great success! I used this ONLY in the 03A3 I had for 100-yard hi-power match; mine was with as-issued sights.
BEST!

Unique like gentlemen above stated or 10-11 grains of red dot.
Look for it on here, 'mouse fart loads', 'cat sneeze loads'. There is quite a bit of information about the loads on here, just do a little searching.
13.5 gr of unique, 405 gr hollow base powder coated in a 45-70 load is about 1300 fps, my favorite loading. It will be a nice load in the 06. Work it up and have fun. Get the young lady shooting!!!!
Post pictures of her out shooting you. Nothing beats a good coach, taught her every thing....
Thanks gentlemen! I have a ton of 4895, sounds like that is the load. She is the wife of a friend of mine, and he got her a slightly used FN action,Sears JC Higgins, and it has a trim stock made of French walnut, and is pretty light and easy for her to handle. The load data is greatly appreciated!!
Try some of these.

I use Blue Dot in my .308 for gallery loads. So far groups are around 1.5" at 100yd with 165 cast bullets (no gas check). Fun to shoot at that level.
OOPS. Sorry, noticed you wanted hunting loads.
For higher vel and longer range I have started with the RCBS 165SIL and 25.5gn of IMR 4198. So far groups are just under an inch at 100yd. Just under 2" at 200yd.

For hunting the TNT 125 gr bullet will open up down to 14 or 1500 fps. I use it in my blkout. push it 2k fps and it should be fine for 100 yd hunting.
Trailboss works great for what you are looking for. I've also worked up some nice stuff with Red Dot with those light cast boolits.

i'd load up some 165gr ranch dogs and any powder that will go 1800-1900fps. i use a 165gr RD with 25.5gr of h4198 in my 30-40 krag. it will go 1930fps avg and "kick" like 30-30.

38.5grains of imr 4895 nosler 125 ballistic tip hunting seconds from the pro shop took 2 deer and a couple hogs for my 10 year old daughter last year good load for deer little light for big hogs
Using H4895 in 30-06, with 170 gr lee cast, pc'd. I worked my way from 32 to 42 grains, in 1 grain increments. I found at the lower end (32-35), I had some vertical stringing. Once I got to 36grs, things began to tighten up. 36 to 39 seemed to be the sweet spot. I got sub-3" groups @ 100yds and light recoil. Over 39 grs grouped well also, but the recoil began to show up. 34 grs should be in the 1800fps range, and topping out at 39 grs should be around 2300fps. All acceptable loads for corn crunchers. All loads were with Win brass and fired from my Weatherby Vanguard bolt gun. I think if you start at 34 grs and work up from there, you'll find what you're looking for.
i agree, even 220gr in 30-06 with h4895 in my testing 35gr was slightly bigger 36 and 38 were the best and 40 got noticeably bigger. its just a good spot i guess
