    good shooting
i use 39 grn of adi 2207 which is h4198 with a lee cast 500 3r w pill that load gives me in my buffalo classic 1525 fps,i have droped camels at 500 yards with that load the bullet is a 20 to 1 lead tin mix i also fit a gas check to the bullet it comes out at 515grn and gives a me of 2660.1298 fpe,it is a very accurate load in my buff classic and does not loose at lot of energy as the lee bullet has a BC of .443.

    Wicky,
Bench Mark 2 is available in the US as Hodgdon Benchmark. As Buckshot said 3031 (AR 2206) is the go for powerful loads and I use up to 56 gns behind a 500 gn bullet in my Ruger #1. That load really gets your attention. 2206H is just about as good.

For BP equivilent loads around 1250 fps I use what Windwalker advocates and that is 2207. Around 28 gns is enough and shoots with top accuracy in every one of my 45/70's.

My all time favourite load is 59 gns of Wano PP with .200" compression, a couple of milk carton wads, the Saeco 645 weighing 480 gns in 25:1 and some home made lanolin based lube. That will outshoot any other load I have tried in my Sharps.

Speer reloading manual #13 has cowboy action shooting data loads for both a 325 gr and 500gr cast boolits. 42grs of IMR3031 gets you 1446fps with a 500gr cast bullet and thats a max. load in that manual. It might kick a little but not as much as my H&R Ultra in .450 Marlin it lets you know you pulled the trigger.

Wicky, besides vegamite and what ever that other goop (marmite?) you aussie seem to love. Don't hell me you eat camels and 'roos?. I had some dog, and monkey and no it did not taste like chicken. Frank

I have used 2015 with my 500 grain boomers in my Encore. I can't remember the charge but it was in the springfield section of the speer book. Even though they are suppose to be low pressure they will rattle your teeth loose. A lot more recoil than 350 grain +p+ rounds out of a guide gun
