What do you guys use to flare case necks when loading cast bullets in rifle cases? I'm trying some Lee 160 gr bullets in 300 AAC blackout.

lee Universal's neck expander die. + factory crimp die to remover flair

I use aftermarket inserts in the Lee flare die, that emulate the lyman "M" die. I have some made by NOE, as well as some from Track Of The Wolf.

I use the M die, and I don't bother to remove the flare after loading the bullet-- I have my M dies set to where they just barely flare the case enough to start the bullet, but not so much as to make a problem with chambering. I should also mention that I use the same M die for both my 30-30 and 30-06. I keep the die set for the 30-30. When you raise the 30-06 case into the 30-30 M die I feel a little "ka-chunk" motion as the 30-06 mouth hits the flare point. With a little practice you will know when to stop, and get a perfect flare without needing to re-set the die or buy a separate die.

Either Lyman M Die, RCBS neck expanded or a Lee Universal Die w/ NOE expanders. I've been switching over the NOE expanders. But the Lyman and RCBS dies served me well.
I have found a Lee PTE .32ACP die orks for my .30 cals and the same type die in 9mm Luger works for my .358.
However last night I loaded 20 .358s with inside neck chamfering only- and they worked great.
Best, Thomas.
If I have anything close in pistol caliber I'll use that flare die.. however I've found that a tapered punch from harbor freight is a great tool. costs about a buck.. it's small en it around 30 cal, and will go up from there.
if you get the few dollar kit, you could expand from .17 thru 50 with just a tap.

I use the NOE expander plugs that go into a Lee universal expander. They do what Lyman M dies does. Provide a consistent neck tension and a small flare at the mouth. The plugs are sized by that flare x neck size. For example a .226 x .222 will flare neck to .226 and neck will be sized to .222 which fits a .224 cast bullet in a 223/5.56 case with .002 under on the neck and .002 oversized at the flare.

Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.
Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

NOE . Works best for me.
Lyman M dies are too expensive so use the TOTW plugs at 3 dollars each or the Lee Universals. For specific bullets that are different standard size - the TOTW plugs are turned to size on the drill press or lathe

I turn my own plugs using a 1/2-20 NF bolt that threads into a Redding expander die. It is possible to get the diameter and length customized for one particular boolit if that matters.
I'm cheap. I stick the nose of some needle nosed pliers in the case mouth, give it a twist, and it's flared.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
All that flexing and sizing will split your cases.Fire forming and bullet sizing will preserve your Brass.
I have NOE for just about all the sizes + the other one from Lyman(?) & the Lee expander. The NOE is great.
