    My Remmy military target rifle.

The 43 Spanish bore was awful so I relind it to 45-70 then restocked it with nice full lenght ML blank I bought for $40.

I had the butt turned and whittled the forend myself.

    Rear site's Lee Shaver conversions, front a Shaver/Lyman 17A w/ spirit level.

The gun shoots way better than the guy behind the trigger

    Craig:

    Thank you ! Very nice!

Did you do the conversion yourself? Have you (did you) run into any problems with the length of the .357Max in a Cadet?

    My Cadet

    Jerry-
    Glad you like it...
The late Dick Nickel (Eatonville, Wa.) did the rebarrel job for me... it's 20.5" long, made out of a rebored .223 barrel off who knows what.
The loaded Max round will just clear the breech block.
The only "work" I did myself was bending the lever, used a potato for a heat sink, and I fitted the stock and forend.
The little rifle shoots great with 140 grain JHP bullets, haven't really played much with cast boolits in the .357 Max.
It was my first custom project back in the mid '80's.

I looked at a No 1 in 22-250 today. Good shape but I didn't like the figure in the wood. They were asking $595.

Lots of what I call "Scraps" in the gunstores today as far as used rifles go. Lots of new rifles with plane Jane wood.

A guy couldn't spend money if he wanted to..

Sorry if this is off topic a little, but I don't know where else to ask. I have an early 1900s Winchester Low Wall that I found in .22 Hornet. I rebarreled to .25-20 SS. Whoever made it a .22 Horned messed up the mainspring (too short). I have a friend's mainspring in for now. Where can I get a flat mainspring, good quality? Thanks. BTW, any suggestions for a starting load? I used 7.6 gr. 4227 and 90 gr. bullets from an old mold I found to get on paper. And I got a nice group, some touching, at 100 yds. This should be fun! Life is good.

I'd try either Dixie Gun Works or Track of the Wolf.

    Marlinman93,

No wonder those darn things are expensive, You bought all the spare ones.

    single shot rifle

Dang I was gonna ask a question about a single shot but after seeing all them pictures I'm ashamed to ask.
I'm with you Sam hee's the reason their so danged expensive.

How about a question for a singleshot newbe?
I am thinking of buying an H&R SB2 in .223 with an additional barrel in either .308 or 30/06.
Good or would you go a different way?
What is the diference between the NEF and the H&R. Any to speak of?
Have read all I can find on specs and they seam to be the same to me.
I like the H&R as I like real fiurniture and not plastics.
