A while back, I did some lube tinkering. I liked the performance of White's BAC (especially in the slower handgun loadings) but I wanted to make it a bit less tacky. So, I mixed a batch 50/50 with the C-Red to see what would happen. They seem to mix well in a small double boiler arrangement that I use for melting lube. I have had good accuracy and bore lubing with this mix in my mid-velocity handgun loads. I lube my boolits using a Lyman 450 heated to 85F (really not necessary but it does make it flow better) and it works well. And, the resulting mix is a lot less sticky that BAC. But, I'm left with a few questions ...
I know BAC is a mix of 50-50 and C-red. C-Red obviously contains carnuba wax (in a low percentage) and other things. Does anyone have any idea what's the composition of the 50/50 mix of C-Red and BAC that I am using? Is there a lube out there that is comparable? Does anyone else have experience with this mix? Am I just fooling myself?
Thanks in advance for your information, perspectives and advice.
