If you can find it, try some Red Dot. It's an overlooked powder, and hopefully you can find some of it. It works great in most pistol caliber cartridges, and very many cast boolit rifle cartridges too. Promo should work well too, I haven't tried...

The most accurate in my 10-22s (stock Rugers) have always been the CCI MiniMag HPS or the Remington Yellow jackets. Both hold 1" at 75 yards (zero range). However, with the suppressed 10-22 the current CCI "match" and subsonic loads are also...

mehavey sent me 8 bullets cast of Rotmetals pure lead. Two of them he had tested using two different methods and came up with 4.5 and 4.8 BHN. I tested those two bullets using the Lee tool mounted in a telescope stand. They both measured 4.7...

A taper crimp is correct. You can back the FL die (w/o the deprime stem if it has one) and adjust to taper crimp. That works just fine. I've loaded thousands of cast bullets in the 30 Carine for use in M1 and M2 Carbines.

My most accurate load for my M1903A1 National Match Type II, M1903A1 and M1903A3 id the 175 gr Sierra MK over 49 gr of Varget. Load is sub moa capable in the match rifle, and MOA capable in the other two with 10 shot groups. Runs 2650 fps at...

Yes, the 311041 is still in production. There are also clones available from NOE, Lee and several other mould makers.

That load is right at the max load for a 300 gr cast in the 44 Magnum with H110. Going to be a handful and should be around 1050 - 1100 fps +/- out of your revolver. BTW, good luck hunting.

Mine is a T/C Impact. It's an inexpensive rifle, but it's been a very solid performer. I've taken deer and elk with it, one shot was all that was needed on any of them. I use BH209 with Hornady SST's or T/C Shockwave saboted bullets. It'll shoot...

The difference is they quantify the difference between their meaning of "standard" and "top shelf" by giving the BHN for both. The terms "soft(er)" and "hard(er)" in and of themselves does leaves a lot to be desired in terms of BHN meaning. Also,...

Shot some quite a few years back in my M39 with Weaver T6 scope and M91/30 sniper, both which ar MOA or less with Sierra 174 MKs and 180 SPs. The D166s were 1 1/2 moa capable in both rifles. The D116s are .310 diameter, the Sierras are .311...

Not exactly a "shot load" for this sub forum? Your load is probably a good load but, as asked, for what purpose?

Not being sarcastic but... "If 15 BHN is hard what is 22 BHN?" Answer is simply "harder". "If 6 BHN is soft what is 10 BHN? It is HARD compared to 6 BHN but not as HARD as 15BHN. Etc, Etc and Etc." Again, the answer is simply "softer"....

Sorry, haven't pressure tested any loads using the Turk flake powder in other cartridges as I've just used the equivalent 4895 charge, w/dacron filler, as I use in the cartridge. The velocities are very close between the flake and 4895 powders. ...

I've used 3.2 gr of WST in my Ruger Single Six 32 H&R in Starline cases with WSP primers with the Lee 314-90-SWC seated to and lightly crimped in the first lube groove. Not pressure tested but the velocity runs just over 1000 fps out of the 6 1/2"...

The question was basically why does the NSIS say the BHN of 100% pure lead is 7 and everyone else seems to say it is 5 BHN give or take? My own BHN measurements agree with the other BHN measurements listed by NSIS and everyone else but only agree...

I use a Silencerco Octane 45 suppressor on a M1911 and on a M98 with Rhineland 45 ACP conversion. My experience mirrors yours. With cast bullets using any lube there is considerable lube and lead build up on the baffles. It is indeed a pain to...
