    Successful Tennessee Hog hunt.

Unfortunately I have yet to work up a cast bullet load for these two rifles.
This was my girlfriends first hunting trip and she made a great head shot

Congratulations! Looks like you two have a lot of romantic dinners ahead. Who needs a fancy table cloth when you have a hog and can start a camp fire, right?
I passed my last psych eval, how bout you?

Awesome! Congrats! I really need to go on a hog hunt sometime. We don't have too many feral hogs in Michigan which I guess is a good thing but they sound like a lot of fun to hunt.

Where was the hunt. Did you use a guide? How about a little story about the hunt.

    Nice shoot'n!

This was in Clarkrange, TN at bridge creek trophy hunt outfitters. We had a great guide named Bobby who got us on the hogs right away, within 6 hours we both had our hogs. This was my girlfriends first hunting trip and my first Guided hunt and a I have to say we had a great time and would recommend this outfitter to anyone.

Good looking hogs you got there. What calibers did you use?

the AR is a rock river arms... looks like a 223/556 platform. I'd like to know what was used for ammo/bullets. nice hogs. I'd be smoking all my meat for sure.

The gun she used started as a rock river stripped lower, it has a Geissele Hi-speed national match DMR two stage trigger Hogue pistol grip and a magpul PRS stock. The upper is a rock river .223 cal. free floating 20" stainless steel bull barrel with a 1-8 twists, the ammo she used was Remington hypersonic Bonded 62 grain soft point. her shot was in the forehead and exited out the back of the skull and through the neck.

The rifle I used is a JC Higgins model 50 in .270 win. made by FN, The ammo I used was Barnes vor-tx 130 grain TTSX BT. My shot placement was in the shoulder and blew out all the valves of his heart.

on another note...... has anyone else shot a pig square in the forehead with a cast bullet from a 223? and did it exit out the back of the skull?

Thanks everyone! I woke up this morning to a card from my girlfriend thanking me for a great weekend and telling me that she learned a lot about hunting and more about me. She ended it with telling me she looks forward to many, many more hunting trips with me. She also let me know that she will be having a table made out of the whiskey barrel that we purchased after we took the Jack Daniels distillery tour.

I tried talking her into it but she wanted the real teeth of her boar to be used in the head mount. And thank you.
