A Hornady LNL first for me.

Reloading some 06 for the garand, and I snapped one of the advancement pawls. Anyone have this happen to them?

Sounds like there may have been a flaw in the base metal. Yours is the first failure of a pawl that I've heard of with the LNL AP. I did have a problem with the primer system sticking (locking the press) but have resolved that. Call Hornady, they'll get you a new pawl right away!

Yup, out of the box, it was incorrectly timed, and snapped. Hornady shipped one out to me quickly. Spent about 5 minutes adjusting the depths of the pawls to ensure correct timing.

Mine came with a spare. That makes me suspect that breakage is not uncommon.

If the pawls are not adjusted correctly, they will eventually snap due to stress. Older pawls are of a better material than newer ones. If timed correctly, you'll hear a "click" "click" rhythm that sounds different and the press will run it's best.

How did the AP "feel" when this happened? Was it an old pawl?
Pawls is one item that Hornady suggests keeping on-hand for the AP along with the springs.

Debris or a casing with issues.

Cleaned, lubed and properly adjusted is the operative word in this case. Should run smooth, if it doesn't, don't force it.

using military cases, guess i didn't get the primer pocket reamed out enough on one, primer would not seat all the way. there was some drag but not enough to stop and pull it. made it 2 stations before it snapped.

Hmmm thats interesting. I wonder since I have never tried any thing longer than 30-30 in mine.
Would it be possible that the case has not fully exited a die as the pawls engage?
