    Success :)

Well I guess I am no longer a casting virgin. Took me months of reading, researching and gathering equipment but I took the plunge and I must say it seems to have turned out to be a success. I managed to scavenge about 90 lbs of wheel weights. About 30 lbs of it turned out to be stick on wheel weights so I decided to see if it could be used for low velocity rounds such as 45 ACP so that I could save the clip ons for higher velocity stuff. I bought the Lee 452-200-RF mold and used IMR7625 powder because it was available. 150 rounds later no leading and seems to be as accurate or more than any other of my reloads. Thanks to all the people posting here to help noobs like me get started. The target shown is 5 shots and 7 yds off of a rest.Click image for larger version.

Lyman Alox. It came with the kit I ordered and didn't seem suitable for anything else. I was a little worried the the grease groove in the boolit was too shallow to hold enough lube but apparently you don't need much. Worked like a champ.

    Congratulations on your success!
The secret to Lee Alox is just a little will do you just fine. When you get tired of the sticky boolits, you might want to look into either buying or making 45-45-10, it is in the top of the lube section.

From the looks of your target and your excellent write up it looks like your first time out so to speak was a total success. Nice going. I have to say this reminds me of the young kid who kills a big 8 point buck on his first ever deer hunt....pretty hard to top that.

Yeah I was probably near your neck of the woods on the 2nd or 3rd. Went to the gun show in Hattisburg. Weren't a lot of tables but the quality of the guns was better than what I see down here on the coast.

You were close, i'm about 25 miles north of there. Laurel and hattiesburg both usually have pretty good gun shows, but i haven't been to one in a long time.
Keep up the good shooting and casting!
