Great picture, big smiles all the way around. If them boys are anything like mine, that pickup wouldn't hold enough doves to fill em up though. lol

That's the boy's booty. Daughter said he and his dad brought home 8 each, some they couldn't find in the field.
    Whatever!

Great pic! I love to see kids enjoying the sport. Doves are scattered here, as more corn gets harvested it's harder to find a concentration.

I love to see youth involved in shooting, well done Sir. If I may ask, what type of dove are they, from what I can see they look like what we call turtle doves over here.

No clue, I wasn't there, it's around Houston, Tx. 'turtle dove' is the European variety. We usually have mourning dove a plenty here. When season starts they go to the power lines. I love to see kids interested in anything but video games. He's shooting the Rem 1100 12 ga, dad gets the 870 20 ga. pump.
    Whatever!

Farmers in my area around Phoenix will not grow crops that attract Dove hunters from the city. I don't blame the farmers as slob hunters leave garbage, trample down crops and divert irrigation. The Morning Dove though is prevalent in the Az desert, especially good around watering spots. The larger White-Wing dove that gather around corn and sorghum crops are getting scarce.

A great pic! Here in Iowa we finally got the dove season 2 or 3 years ago...I check it out for the first time last week and 2 of us managed 8, this past Saturday (morning and evening combined) we got 26 of them. Good for the economy, a local gun shop sold us 2 cases of shells and a new shotgun. A good tune-up for pheasant season...they were great eating also, peppered and bacon-wrapped on the grill. Have to get the kids out there...so little work, I guess maybe it is actually dove "shooting" not dove "hunting".
Take a kid to the range, you'll both be glad you did.

That's how I like them but gotta have the coarse ground pepper fresh out of the grinder and extra thick bacon. My son has the magic touch on his gas grill and cooks them so the meat almost falls off the bone. Ours come out of the freezer and on the grill this weekend. We will be celebrating my GD's 13th birthday. My son and I chipped in and got her a Savage Axis in 7MM/08 for her birthday gift. We hope to make a deer hunter out of her this November.

I lost my Grandkids as bird dogs this season and had to chase my own. Find the right spot and it is more shooting than hunting.

2 years ago I had my 10 bird limit in less than 30 minutes and only missed a couple shots. They were coming in so close I had to use my cyl and imp choke tubes. Never got off my pickup's tailgate except to retrieve downed birds. No where near as lucky this this season.
