    newby at paper patch

    looking for advice on the following idea. would like to use an as cast .309, 170 grn cb, paper patch it, load and shoot in a 30-06, using h4831. what powder charge seems correct for this combination. wayne h

    Wayne, I have not used that powder for that pp boolit with h 4831 personally, however, you can usually start with a starting load for a jacketed bullet and proceed cautiously. I think there are better powders than h4831 for this loading though. Go to'search forumsat the top right hand corner of the page and enter 'loads for 30-06' and see what comes up. Good luck.

    With that weight bullet and that powder you could fill the case to the base of the neck and still have a moderate load.
    45 AUTO! Because having to shoot someone twice is just silly!

    wayne h, I'd be rather interested in the outcome of a combination like that.

    pdawg_shooter knows what he's talking about so without double checking, I would agree with him. I certainly agree with his principle of filling the case. You have the components to put it to the test. (That's a hint.)
