    Another question for the Meisters

If a fellow has been working real hard on the basics, reading, buying books, asking you guy's stuff, actually practicing rolling on wrong sized boolits, making lube, just finished his .301" and .302" push throughs, all of his 30's in the house are 1-10 twist, and he wanted to try 1800-2200 land, would you steer him to 160ish, 180ish, 200ish on the boolit. Thanks, Gtek

I'd go for the 200ish (or more). It would depend on what fits the throat. Too heavy could mean a patched bore-ride and I'm not convinced that works so well. I have that problem. I like heavies and they're much easier to patch but they don't fit without bore-riding them. I do have a rifle or two that don't need bore-rides. One can take 245 grainers! So, tryem all. It really is part of the fun. But I'd say 165gr is getting to minimum for patching ease.

I prefer the heavies in all my 30s. On bore riders I lap the nose section to match the diameter of the sized bullet body. That way I can patch to the start of the ogive. Get my best accuracy that way.

All the time on the 311284. But again I have lapped the nose section to .302. I size them to .302 and patch to the start of the ogive. I have fired these from a 300RUM at just over 3000fps and MOA accuracy.
