    316299 cast bullet moldc

Found out about this at the CBA forums. Problem is that my 1891 argie carbine slugs out at .313" also have a long branch sporter that also slugs out at around .315" My lyman 314299 as cast diameter is .314" so I would like to get a bullet mold that would cast large enough so as to be used in both rifles. The long branch sporter has a two groove bbl and has basically no wear that i can see. Is the 316299 a group buy mold?. Thanks, Frank

There have been several group buys done based on the 314299. I believe I did the first, shortening it a bit so it would fit in Lee's blocks:

I believe NOE has done one also. NOE keeps their tooling and is doing small group buys of molds they made in the recent past. Get ahold of them and ask when they'll do it again.

Or you can "beagle" the mold.

There is a group buy going on for the 311365 which is a spitzer boolit look on the second page of the Active Group Buy section. There is also some talk of a large 311299 maybe going in the near future. The only problem with these is if you get your mold by Christmass you'll be lucky. There is the option of paper patching which I have been working on, it works very well but takes a while to learn all the in's and out's.

NOE ran a 316299 GB earlier this year. It only takes 5 orders for a re-run.

I must be doing something wrong, everytime I have tried to beagle a mold, they only enlarge on one side, never along the mold mating lines.

'Beagling' will produce out of round boolits but go ahead and try them anyway, you might get a nice surprise. They get round real quick when you shoot them, it's worked for a lot of people.

'out of round' when Beagling as dualsport says. The rifle's bore will be the deciding factor as to what is, or is not, round. A Pb projectile sized .002 (or more) over groove depth will be swaged to as 'round' as the bore is round.

I have a few long out of production Lyman moulds cut undersize due to sloppy factory QC that are delivering satisfactory performance when treated to the Beagling technique. My Rem.700 '06 seems to like them.

It's one of those things that make CastBoolits so interesting.

Has anyone decided to have a run of the 316299 moulds? I would like to get one also. I shot some of duelsports and they shot very good in my 44 M/N. It has a .317 throat. If there is going to be a GB, please let me know.

NOE asks for just 5 orders before they will make a 316299:

I don't believe you need a Honcho, just PM NOE or start a thread down in Group Buy Discussion.
